I've got the daiwa ss2600 on my stalking rods and they balance perfectly. The challenge I see is the daiwa longbow floater rod has 50mm butt rings which on a balance perspective the smaller reels you'd associate with floater fishing won't really work and may lead to frap ups etc. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

When you say you're looking at fishing a few nights a week, do you mean between overnight and into work the next day? If you do and you'll only have the night on the bank, I'd seriously think about what that would be like with the probably hour and a half to 2 hour drive you'd have each way. Getting out of North London of an evening is horrific. I did a bit of it last year and have been doing it this year, with a venue 15 minutes from work and it can still be challenging due to the limited time, first to find the fish, set up and get the bivvy etc sorted. I'm not knocking you, as a lot of people make excuses on why they can't go but if that's part of your plan, I'd try it if you haven't already on a few local waters and see how you go and whether you'd be happy doing the same with the extra time involved with travelling to the Lee Valley. To be honest I don't know about those. You'll probably have to do some research. If you can walk onto a syndicate, I'd imagine either it will be massively over subscribed or not much good as people will keep their tickets. The local club to home has a number of waters and some are mega busy whilst others it can be just you on it. Quite often whilst they may have high membership numbers, a lot may just be pleasure fishermen who only fish a few hours here and there. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Have you considered club waters? I can think of two I've heard mentioned in Surrey that I believe have decent waters and at a fraction of what you'd pay and most likely no waiting list. Farnham and Godalming as a start. You could then get your name down on some syndicates you really fancy. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Polarised glasses advice.
androoooo replied to adamkitson's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I had an eye test last week and spoke to my optician about polarising glasses for fishing. Essentially for different sports, they treat the lens with additional filters to reduce certain wave lengths of light. So if you bought standard polarising glasses, that's probably why. He told me based on what's available on the Costa del mar site, they could produce something similar but not exact based on the wave lengths that Costa say they remove. Predominantly yellow light, which the eye is most sensitive to. So it seems not all polarising glasses are created equal. Maybe it's worth speaking to your optician about what you want to use the glasses for to get improved polarising lenses for fishing. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -

For a prison, 4 cities that rank in the top 10 best cities in the world to live in, isn't bad. I've travelled there twice and spent a year there as well. It's a gorgeous place and somewhere I'd happily move to. A large number of my friends have moved out there and they all love it and haven't regretted the choices they've made. Sorry it's cheap butane canisters. Which is what CM refers to. The only problem is they don't burn well in low temps. If you're only fishing summer they're fine. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

If its about fuel costs, either look for deals. Erics angling do 6 canisters for £18. I bought a number last time I ordered from them. At £3 a canister they are half the price of Halfords etc. The other thing I have done is buy a converter for my Bulin stove, it allows me to use the cheap propane canisters with the stove. They're only good when the weather's a bit better but manage the total fuel cost through the year. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I tied two rigs with it last night and can't say I'm filled with confidence on the material. Had expected it to be stiffer and not have the stretch it does. May not even risk them unless someone comments and gives me a little more confidence in it and it's properties. I've given it a test between rig pullers and it seems to hold up but stretches loads. Will call you tomorrow about the days away. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

With the venue in mind, after Monday, looking back, I think in some spots a different rig could give better presentation but only clean gravel. So wanted a few pre-tied.

I purchased some Amnesia clear in 15lb a while a go. Yeterday I tied my first rig with it. I don't know what I was expecting but have found it has quite a bit of stretch in it. For those that have used it before, is this normal and how have you found breaking strain vs the stated? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I've used the multi rig as you say but with hydro link and removing the inner. Just use a mega buoyant popup so it lifts itself free from the offerings. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Dovii was down Farlows last night. You'd have got 3-4 on next to each other comfortably. Will let you know again when I'm down for a few days next week. If you get lucky, there are a few proper social swims, with picnic tables behind. Every time I've been they've been taken. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

3-4 I'd imagine on what I've seen would be fine, some may end up with not much water to fish. I'll have a proper look though the next few times I'm down. Wraysbury may be another, some hate what they've done to the iconic venue, not sure on cafe etc but know they've been building a club house etc. Again decent size pit, near junction 13 on m25. I've been down to see it on a charity bash and it's a stunning venue and only available pre-booked, not sure whether that includes booking swims. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Dovii how many of you would be fishing? I'm down there Monday evening on an overnight and then a few days the following week. I'll have a gauge whether you'd be able to plot up together. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I've only taken one scenic shot whilst there. This is in a bay they call "the pads" Will give you an idea what it's like.

On everything you've asked for bar being able to book swims Farlows would fit the bill. I'd imagine you'd be ok fishing midweek and being able to find pegs together, depending on numbers. Think its 27 acres, mature gravel pit, lots of islands, bars, plateaus and gullies, quiet intimate bays to big open water areas. Fish to over 40lb with plenty in the 30lb bracket. Cafe on site that does breakfasts and dinners. As well as take aways that deliver. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I got back this weekend, fishing an easyish venue with my brother. It's only his third time fishing for carp, as he's usually a float or feeder angler. We had 24 between us, 19 coming to zigs or on the surface. We were fishing in 11 foot of water with adjustable zigs, spombing riser pellet and and a small amount of mixers over the top every 15-20 mins. We'd start picking them off with the zigs, then every so often they'd get properly up on the surface and we'd pick them up on top. Most people had a handful of fish but looking around we were picking up the most fish and consistently through the day. We'd find they'd spook after one was caught on the surface but would still pick them up in the upper third on the zigs. We only had one 5 minute spell where the gulls twigged the riser, apart from that, despite flying over constantly they didn't get down on the food. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

It probably should read push the hook through and cut below the barb so you have the point out, then the shank comes out easily from the other way. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Mate, I wouldn't use an inline, I did that once as it was the only leads I had on a short session. It came free from the insert and end up bouncing around the line and knocked the fish off. I'd fish zigs on a leadclip and be prepared to hit single beeps, I've found zig takes can be quite strange as the fish has a fair amount of hook link to play with. I'd also try them at different levels, one at 1 foot, one at 2 foot and one at 3 foot and find out which works, then begin to move the others to that length maybe 6 inches apart to refine it. I'm sure it will come good for you both.

I'd say forget it and don't massively change what you're doing just for the sake of it. You'll likely just go round in circles and end up back where you were anyway. I'm not saying don't change but don't react hastily based on a few blanks. Certain it will come good for you. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Neal, are you certain you've been on fish and not caught? By sound of it, you've been picking swims based on where you can fit in. Which is always going to make it difficult. I've changed bait this season, rolling my own and also a tweak to a rig I've been confident in for the last 2 seasons. I've had a number of blanks but eventually had one yesterday and it was the first time, I was 100% confident I was on fish. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
