top and bottom of it is, the carp dont give a monkeys how tidy or neat your rig looks. that is all down to how anal you yourself are and the more anal the tidier the rig, lets have some rig pics up so you can all be judged on how retentive you really are

my personal choice would have been for a curve shank, maybe a mugga #4, i dont like the point on the Kaptor it looks like it was sharpened with a pencil sharpener so it is a round point on a squared off wire section? i always reprofile my hooks to a tro-car style, much more effective.

i do layers rather than all in one, layers are (below 10 deg) tee shirt & boxers, thin jersey top and shorts, hoody and joggers then zipped hoody and combats, 2xpair sox (1 x knee length boot sock) + in my bag i carry a thin waterproof jacket and trousers incase of rain but at any given time i can remove a layer or two. if you have an all in one on you cant put much underneath, i found anything more than undies and you were soaked with sweat after ten mins, after you got warm you have nothing to take off unless you wanted to run round in your skidders

spotted some 'dave lane mag runners on fishtec going cheep http://results.fishtec.co.uk/search?w=dave lane mag runner -
heya Richard, your inline setup should really be minimalistic, just two items are required for the rig to work perfectly, lead and swivel as anything else is personal. leads @ 2oz are the norm for me and this should be coupled with a #8 large ring swivel. pass mainline thru lead sleeve and tie off with your knot of choice leaving a 15-20mm snag end, the snag end is tucked into the lead then followed by the swivel to act as a tell tail. if needed the rig can be set up thus, first a length of tube to suit your set up/lake, then tail rubber pushed into the tubing (can be glued but only here), thread lead insert thru lead and onto line and add your swivel, seat tail rubber onto insert and fit hooklink, you will see that the whole rig from the swivel up will slide up the line under its own weight so in the event of a snap off the mainline will just slide free and dump the lead. that is the way i have done it for years and i have never tethered a fish.

never having used a leader i would ask, is the extra 5lb Bs worth the hassle of the extra knots needed to attach your leader?

my wife does a lot of product testing and so we get a lot of parcels delivered, (bear with me here cos here comes the best bit) some of these parcels are packed with pva nuggets and guess what!! they are multi coloured, they are just the right size (40mmx10mm), they melt off fast (last week timed to under 20 seconds) and best of all they are free, free, FREE i tell you -
dont bother with any of the 'carp taxed' stuff as most of it is just a rip off, for diamond files go to your local Aldi and pick these up for £4.99 in that pack you have every shape file you will ever need, i have owned those for over 3 years so far and no sign of wear. for a vice i have this, available on eBay for under a tenner and again i have had mine for 3+ years, pays to shop around Bud. https://www.ebay.com/p//1377666334?iid=381299930964

they actually look good Hutch, Problem is i have a thing about not taking batteries out and when it can go as long as 12 months inbetween uses then that can do some damage, hence my need for analogue
-
those look identical to my old Fladen scales Nick, only 3 moving parts and i still managed to destroy em hahaha!!
-
i will only weigh a fish that looks like it will be a new pb bud, just nice to know.
-
thats the weighing ones not the fishy ones on my last foray onto the bank i found that my scales had self destructed, one of the levers had come adrift. now even though i have replaced it exactly as it should be i can no longer trust them and my back up digital set also seems to have given up the ghost, so i am in the market for a new analogue set at least. having looked around i have seen them from £15 (thompsons) to £85 (Korda Kustom), even Reubens are ranging from £40 to over £100 for god sake!! all i want to do is weigh a fish NOT gold bullion, can anyone suggest a reasonably priced set that are reliable pleeeeze not looking for bargain bucket level but dont fancy breaking the bank either, do they even need to be subject to carp tax, and has anyone got scales that are generic ones that have done the job?
-
thats gonna be a trick to find init the only one i know of is the Nash dwarf spod rod at 9ft, i think its a 4lb Tc and damn expensive for a small rod.

bishops bowl lakes at bishops ichington not far down the road from you http://bishopsbowlfishery.co.uk/directions-2/ Dog lane lakes at Napton again not many miles away http://www.doglanefishery.co.uk/page2.html have fished both on many occasions and if you go bishops then try the smaller lakes first as they are the best to start off, i did white bishop and walworth before moving onto mitre pool. white bishop is a runs water, long and narrow with a depth of max 6ft and in contrast mitre is a pit that goes down to over 50ft in places but has a shelf from 1-2ft at the bank to about 11ft depth at 15-25ft out, any further and you need waders dog lane, when i went the best pool was widgeon lake but my mate who still goes says that they have had a change round and grebe now has carp to 40lb. both good waters and both within 20min drive.

you are starting to remind me of a young lad who came on here like he was the only bloke to ever catch a carp, in fact his avatar name was carphauler and he did love the Bants, strange he dont come round any more. there are some nice folk on here who are quite happy to dispense hard won knowledge and skills, offer up a place to fish and who can have the craick or the Bants with anyone. there are also some who will rip you a new a r sehole for even daring to think you are as good as them (no names,,,yet) wonder which side of the fence you will fall off? remember, there is always time for fishing and so always time to start again

it would probably be benificial for the community to know the reason behind this chilli, blue light has a shorter wavelength than other colours of the spectrum and tends to scatter easier too. it is also (the scatter effect) enhanced by water and water vapor, brown or amber lenses block blue light better than any other colours and so enables clearer vision where blue light is most prevalent,,, NEAR WATER!! ok back to my day job as major numpty now
