  1. nearly spat my teeth out when i came to the end of that post Gaz
  2. i thought about that but with wet woods tendency to rot i was thinking in the long term Gaz.
  3. i have had the idea of having a level concrete pad to take around with me that i can use to put my pod on, i have a good 3 wheel barra now so the weight shouldnt be a problem. think that would work??
  4. how can companies still be selling gas heaters for camping? and they say smoking kills
  5. chrysler voyager bud, 7 seater, take out the rear bench and you got 4 seats and the same storage as an escort van
  6. i set my pod level up out of the wind so i can get it absolutely bang on but when i move it out of the bivvy to the swim it never looks the same
  7. i fully concur sir! you have never said you are not an idiot. but then neither has anyone else
  8. dont know if anyone would be interested but!!! http://www.sportsdirect.com/flash-sale-six be ok for someone on a budget
  9. i have to say, i second Tims choice of pod, i have that one and it does everything it says on the tin cheap enough, sturdy and very flexible as far as configs go.
  10. i agree with dayvid about the bivvy heater bud, i would class it as the most lethal bit of kit ever invented. get a good bed and sleep system with waterproof fleece lined overwrap and you could even do away with the bivvy.
  11. only thing i hate about the french, they cant make a good sausage. bacon sausage and eggs reduced to egg on toast for brekkie, criminal init
  12. best of luck gaz and thats all i will say #carpynights
  13. could just see me running after it round the lake with a doz or so blondes chasing me  ooohh! wait a minute
  14. but thats the whole point, you do not need to set the fighting drag as it should be set before your first cast then IF you need to alter it during a scrap then that is no different to the way you fish, also once you have set the rear clutch for the bait runner AFTER YOUR FIRST CAST, it also requires no further attention. set your line to your desired tension( tight/semi/slack), rod in the pod, clip on your stows or whatever then one flick of the finger to set the runner and any more is just being a tart
  15. if thats what i end up with gaz i have enough engineering expertise to motorize it
  16. its just that to me its seems like your statements are coming from the angle of someone who has never used the bait runner as it should be used. i set my bait runner to suit the situation, relatively tight where there could be a danger of snags and just so i can feed line off in open water, the front clutch/ fighting drag i set so i have to pull reasonably hard to give line and unless i have a really hard fighting fish on thats how it stays. as i reach down for the rod on a take i extend my index finger and just touch the runner lever and that knocks it off before i have even gripped the rod. the above suits my style of fishing so well that i have not needed to alter either clutch more than a dozen times in the last two years and i have also NEVER used it freespool style and also there is no need to have a quick crank of the handle. as you say horses for courses, but the trick is being able to ride that horse
  17. phil, can i ask just two questions? (three with this one before some smart ar se says sommat) 1) do you have bait runners? 2) have you ever used a bait runner reel?
  18. we have reached a stalling point in the negotiations, we are here at the moment
