Stop going mate. One of two things will happen:
1 - You don't miss it, in which case not going is a win.
2 - You miss it, ergo the bug is back. Win.
It's supposed to be fun, if you're not enjoying it just stop going buddy.

Just got to the new lake im fishing.
The lake is 6 acres and holds about 30 carp.
Ive already seen the big common, hasnt been out in nearly 2 years.
I saw him about 2 months ago when i was walking round and he had most of the stock with him.
So im thinking im in the right place at the moment , im just having a ciggie and gonna take my time , sit back and watch for bit before i disturb the water.

Well ended up on the water we wanted and for the first time in what feels like ages I lost one,and it felt like a good un 😱😱😱 was gutted tbh and was my only bite of the session. I have unfinished business with this water 🙄😬😎.
On a positive note matey boy had one over my mix and boilies so I’m heading in the right direction. Still can’t get the feeling when my fish padded me up and everything went solid 😱😱😱 always next time i suppose 😉😎🎣

crusian reacted to j.beresford in Rod test curve vs fun??
Hi all, I just wanted to give an update in case anyone was wondering. As you all took time to help me out and give some pointers I thought it was only fair.
I bought 2x Free Spirit E-class bank creeper rods. They are 10ft and approx 2.5lb Test curve.
They are great rods. So far we have caught carp from 5lb up to 17lb on them. They are so light but feel great quality. They bend lots but feel there is plenty of power to deal with much bigger fish.
Thanks again for everyone's advice.

crusian reacted to salokcinnodrog in Flavour of the Week - Rigs
Hopefully one day you will catch then. Different feeding situations, different lakes and lakebeds, even angling pressure may mean you need to change your rig(s), from hooklink material to rig length.
I wouldn't fish a combi-rig over weed, whereas I would over gravel. In weed I will likely want a braided rig, whereas on gravel I might want a short stiff rig if I am feeding heavily.
If all anglers are fishing rigs between 6-8inches, I might well want something longer or shorter.

There's a couple of old threads on it Highy.
Go somewhere well stocked & like most mainline baits you should have a couple. Good quality. Last I knew its not in shelf life though??
You're not going to change bait for your match are you?? Sticky with what you're confident with!! 😎

He’s still alive to tell the story. You didn’t do much wrong! We’ll forgive you for not doing a catch report on this occasion..😀

Dave's Mum and Dad phoned me last night from the hospital, he was awake but groggy and confused.
From landing the fish to waking up surrounded by emergency services he has no recollection.
I'm thinking it was a hot day, he was on his box, and despite drinking plenty to keep cool getting up to weigh a fish had heatstroke or a head rush and went over.
This morning Dave himself phoned me, he is being kept in today, still bringing up water every now and again. Must have swallowed a lake full.
The thanks I needed was hearing his voice, but I did tell him he is buying me a pint😉

Firstly well done. You stepped up and believe me not everybody would. I hope your mate makes a speedy and full recovery. Hopefully it’ll be one of those story’s you both can joke about in years to come.
what I would say is look after yourself. Things like this can have a huge effect on you. You’ll be in a form of shock even if you feel fine. Once again we’ll done you. Respect due.

I've had things going through my head today, and I mentioned 'lifesaver' in my facebook capture post, but that doesn't really cover all.
I had just netted a double figure carp for my mate. As he got up to come round for pictures, he slipped or fell like poleaxed straight into the lake. The lake owner and I jumped in to get him out as he surfaced.
My mate is a man mountain, 22stone, so we dragged Dave to the bank. At some point he must have breathed in some water, so while trying to get him into recovery, still in the water up to our thighs, I had to give him cpr, which the position we were in, the only option was to thump him in the chest, once, as hard as I could. He then started fitting and snorting while breathing.
Somehow while this was going on I managed call emergency services, who stayed on the line until help arrived. It took 5 of us to get Dave onto the bank.
Thank you to the paramedics, especially Zoe, first there who jumped in herself to help, to the fire brigade, and the other two anglers.
The last I saw of Dave was being taken away in an ambulance.
Please get well soon Mate, I hope you recover fully.
As an add, somewhere in that lot, I did also manage to tip the fish back alive, quite possibly as I was getting out of the water after getting Dave out.
As an addition to this, please don't think I am angling for praise. I did what anyone else would have done. I didn't think, I did it, my Mate.
The important parts of my post were how easy it is for an accident to happen, a slip or trip, and it could be curtains.
The second part is Thank you to all of the emergency services personnel who helped when needed. I have no idea how long it took for them to arrive, but it was quick, at an out of the way address.
Thank you to the ambulance operator on the end of the phone line, who could hear everything going on, and gave advice and help when needed.

Hello.
To my knowledge not many fisheries are going to like you having their fish that high off the ground.
Are you able to get some waders on and get in the water. With a good unhooking mat or retaining sling. This would allow unhooking and photos without any risk to the fish. I'm sure the bailiff/owner would/should adapt a swim to allow you to enter/exit the water safely in this regard.
Fair play to you buddy

Good luck ginger, you seem to have the key to that water, so go with your gut!!
Personally I'd try to avoid having a line going through your spot, but it might not make any difference!!

No mate.
A few hours on the river and then we gave up, 9 foot scopes and 3 ounce leads dont really work well on a river like the rhone.
Its gutting, the lake in question was originally stocked in the 1850s and held carp to over 70lb.
God knows how old some of those fish were.
I found out this afternoon that its all because some sellfish prick put a koi in the lake at some point last year, now all the fish are dead.

2 sort of spinning/vibrating discs. WOW. My chiropractor uses the more expensive one. No massage could compare
