i've fished it once and was knackered by the end of the day as it's not my usual type of venue (typically prefer low stock natural venues) i found the best tactic was to fish as far as you comfortably can, with 6 - 7 foot zigs and spod over the top, the spod mix doesn't need to be complicated i used a bag of mainlines slop/zig mix and some squashed/flaked maize which was boiled until it was really soft and soupy, mixed them both together and just kept it going in all day. On that particular day red foam was the winner however like most things i'm sure it can change.

It's good for all materials, it can be used on soft braids to make an acute angle helping the rig to flip or it can be used on fluro type lines to help open up the gape a little as some hooks can cause the line angle to very sharp.

Harrison torrix t.e in 12.6 would be my recommendation, they're soft enough in the tip to handle close range stuff but can put a 4oz lead well over 100 yards

an ounce and a half sqaure pair lead, set up on a helicopter rig with a long soft rig, and a pva mesh bag threaded onto it like a stick mix and a couple of pva foam nuggets, that should help it to sit up and settle on the silt, also use a thick oil (even a supermarket bought nut oil would suffice) and dip the bag and rig into it that will also lighten it up and create a nice slick around the area when fish come in mooching

if you could do the travelling there are some cracking waters to be had on the lbac ticket

drennan carp silk i believe its called, £4 a spool and available in brown or green ... what more does an angler need from a hooklink?

why not try amnesia? i fished a water that had a ban on braid and after trying fluro i eventualy stumbled onto amnesia gave it a try and had massive results

just to add theres now a lead system available from avid called the choppa droppa which allows the lead to be dropped on the take when using helicopter or chod rigs

doesnt tend to matter to be honest, just use what ever you normaly would with braid i suppose

i know everyone uses theres differently but earlier today i belive i had a stroke of genius, i fish a flourocarbon mainline so no need for leader or knots there, i also prefer to fish the 'naked' chod as its called, this way there are no beads for weed to jam on and get stuck in the event of a break off, now ... after a recent discovery, the atomic tackle choppa droppa .... I DEAL! a system that allows the lead to be dropped when fishing this style rig! combine all this whilst fishing semi locked up (not completely solid almost like just leaving the fighing drag set) even when fishing open water means that hooking potential is fanatstic and safety is paramount! fish this with a semi slack line or completely slack dependant on distance being fished with a critically balanced rig and i think it should be a winner. ill keep you posted

so then people, ive been granted a weeks fishing for my 21st birthday which is in january unfortunatley, so im going to hold it off for a couple of months afterwards to (hopefully) hit them during the autumn feeds, now, ive yet to land a UK thirty so im going to choose a venue within the UK and id like to get away from the troubles of my current club water, so where would your reccomendations be for a weeks worth of fishing?

then what your effectively fishing is a helicopter rig with a pop-up, like a short zig lol, the idea of the curve is that no matter what angle the bait is tacken the hook will turn really fast and nail direct in the bottom lip

youll get a load of different answers on this one as everything is personal preferance esp, kryston, jrc, nash, rig marole, drennan and korda all have good products it just depends on which you finds suits you and your needs. my box consists of esp strip tease, drennan carp silk, esp sink link, kryston snake bite, some rig marole hooklink i can remember the name off but they all have a seperate use along with a small variety of hooks - wide gapes, longshanks and curved shanks ... again all different situations which is again personal preference as to what and when. good luck ... lol

sorry .... that statement is completely wrong the fish are catchable as soon as the water source becomes fishable, you just have to find them then hope that your small offering is good enough for a quick snack
