  1. one that got me was i tink it was in advanced carp a few months ago the "sliding rig" i know a very good angler that was fishing the colne valley and savay etc through the late 70's and through the 80's and i remember him showing me th eexact same rig 2 years ago, then here it was a few months back by a 'new' angler saying hes just thought it up the other night and has made a few changes since . . . no he hadn't it was 100% the same as what i was shown 2 years ago
  2. deffinatly make your own, if you buy one and it fials on you who can you blame? if you tie your own and it fails you can inspect it and make changes and lear nas your going, and again longer hooklinks can always help in silt
  3. let this rattle your brains - watch closely at 1min 30 at the fish swimming under the leader and not spooking, and also around 3.30/4 mins at how the lead sits on the lake bed
  4. use the softest material i can get away with in the circumstances and use a curve shank hook, either kd style or with a hair twice the length of the bait
  5. lol, no probs mate i dont see anything wrong with the hook size with 3 bits of fair sized corn, plus you will get better hook holds the pellet thing might be true but if your using a balanced bait it will sit on the botom eventualy anyway so it should sit in the middle of all the pellet, maybe try a small 8mm pre drilled pellet on the hair with something like a size 10 or 12 hook on that? with meat i throw in about a hand full of chunkc and a small ball of mahed meat, just tear some chunks of the tin put them in your hand and rip them all to small bits and then mush it all up into a paste, just leaks oils, i then just put a smallish cube on the hair as usual if im not casting a long way if i intend to give it a bit of a chuck i use middy meat hooks they have a big screw in stead of a hair to put your meat on making it stable and can withstand a good chuck, they're also good for cheese and small bits of potatoe
  6. i dont see anythign wrong with it mate, just check that the lead can be ejected if snagged and maybe put a bit of rig putty on the hooklink where the coating is stripped back, if its already caught fish then its working and doesn't need to be changed luncheon meat and pepperami is also a good bait for those kind of waters
  7. you wont need 300 meters exactly mate, just make sure you have enough to cast far with and enough to play a hard fighting fish, how much line do your spools hold?
  8. so maybe fishing the areas that are less likely to be fished? what sort of baiting aproach should i start with? the website says small boilie only baiting has been catching so would pva bags work or should i find a couple of spots within the swim and use a throwing stick to spread my bait around the whole swim? not massively but enough baits to keep them interested and moving around in my swim?
  9. im off to france in just over a month and starting to think about possible tactics but only trouble is, im not sure what to look for in such a big expanse of water, the lake is 20 achres and im not sure if there will be a draw for the swims or if me and my party will get close ones as there are only 3 of us fishing then another group of 9 joining us from somewhere else. so what sort of features should i look for in such a big expanse?
  10. sorry just checked the angling lines website different lakes same name just spelt different.
  11. is this the lake? www.frenchcarpfishing.net
  12. not fished the place but after reading the rules im thinking tha teither a very light running flat lead could work or the max lead limit (2.5) in the shape of a big grippa on a bolt rig
  13. just got back from a 24 hour trip, things started off slow with only liners and false bites after changing the rig to something much much MUCH simpler than anyone had used on the lake in ages and because of that change the fish got confused again and i banked 7 fish in the last 5 hours
  14. old thread but would like to bring it back up, any one got any similar info im booked up in june
  15. thanks for all the help lads will try different things on each rod and see whihc works best for myself and my new water
  16. fair point just read an article on the internet, the leadcore has to be tied on meaning if a breakges was to happen the lead core is more likely to tether a fish up than some mainline because the tubing will just slide off, leadcore can also be a more responsible for fish damaged and unless made properly can be completely unsafe, luckily i tested all mine before casting im guessing your a keen user of tubing, how would i keep it stationary on the mainline with a running lead? put an anti tangle sleeve over the swivel and push it into this?
  17. ill admit never really used tubing due to being a pain in my backside to thread with the lengths i like to use, have you tried the new rig marole free fall? and what is it you have against lead core?
  18. to provide a bit of abrasion resistance and to help to keep my end tackle pinned down even more, so say i was fishing on top of or on the back of a bar i dont want my main line running over or onto the lip of the bar where it can be damaged and become weak
  19. after reading and revising on the different ways lead set-ups send indication and runnign rigs seem to come out on top where possible, i also like to use leadcore when alowed, my thoughts are because i splice my own leadcore could i use an inline lead with the insert taken out on one of my leaders then put my flying back lead on? the reason i want to do this is because i dont like fishing with my bobbins on the deck with completely slack lines i like just a small drop on my bobbins so i can pick up line bites especially at this time of year.
  20. walked around it today mate, if you like your pike fishing then get on it for the day if your not so keen on it then you may have to do a night or 2 to get onto the carp because thyre proving to be pretty difficult at the moment due to the weather,
  21. for the price i think i might be in on pit 2 as well, 35 - 40 acers (sp?) and a stock of 30 - 40 fish . . . . i think a LOT of pre baiting will be required here.
  22. hiya people, just wondering wether anyone has fished this pit in leighton buzzard? im thinking of fishing it seriously over the next season or 2 and was wondering what the stock is like and if anyone has had any problems whilst on there?
  23. erm ill be going to bluewater lakes for a weeks worth of fishing, ive got a basic idea of what i should take but i dont want to get out there and realise i need somethign i dont have and weve all been there before
  24. hi guys i know this is a completely stupid question but can someone help me with the kit i need to take over its my first time n gettin nervous as i leave soon.
