  1. Right forget chods, helicopter rigs etc, just tie a simple knotless knot hair rig out of some coated braid strip off enough for a supple hair. The coated part will stop the rig tangling and to stop the hair from wrapping around the hook take a pva foam nugget and fold it in half over the hair and the shank of the hook. Now nothing can tangle
  2. Leadcore has become obsolete to me since Solar's unleaded has come out. It is far more supple and hugs the contours of the bottom whereas leadcore just sticks up
  3. I use Solar's xtra wide gape hook in size 5. They have a straight eye but when tying the rig with a snell knot I don't think it affects the mechanics of the rig.
  4. Forget putting sinkers and then beads on, get on solar's new chod backstop beads they grip line, leaders and leadcore. I put them on 0.235 mono and they were gripping
  5. Have a look at solar's unleaded. It is like a heavy braid, and is so supple. It literally hangs in your hands.
  6. All materials for chod rigs are the same. You only have to do a 2/3 turn blood knot to the swivel. It will hold don't worry
  7. You can get away with using just a two/three turn blood knot. I personally wouldn't have chose trip wire though, I feel either bristle filament or mouth trap is a better material to work with
  8. It usually is used combi style but if you do fancy giving it a go straight through tie it on using either a snell knot or domhoff knot that way you only have to put the line through the eye once
  9. Is that down to a long hooklink or did another factor contribute to you not knowing the fish was on. It could have been your lead set-up, your alarms many other things to consider and not just to blame the rig itself
  10. If you read in his post he mentioned them beads as no good
  11. Nick you could easily be a famous angler and i would love to read articles by you. They would be of quality and honesty, not something you get much of these days.
