  1. If you are looking to use tubing and still want the quick change element take a look at Gemini Carp Tackle, they do a specific kit for tubing, it contains a connector which slides down over the bag stem whilst gripping the tubing and stopping it sliding up the line.
  2. Good to see Gardner distributing it, just a shame it's more expensive to buy 600m then it used to be 1000m.
  3. Definitely different to your usual approach Nick. I think Adam Penning did something of a similar theme with a stiff boom connected to a Multi-Chod section via a short braided section. By all accounts worked really well.
  4. Very good quality bait oozes quality and TnM is probably the best one in the range.
  5. I have also found that not putting too much of the tag end in the gate of the splicing needle helps when pulling back through.
  6. Yes, it's the only coated braid i'm aware of that can be crimped. I love using Hybrid Stiff as a boom material.
  7. It's a great tool when used with the right materials. Great for creating booms whether it be for Ronnie rig, Hinged Stiff Rig or Combi's. It's also good for creating short Chods if that's your kind of thing and allows you to consistently get the same length each time.
  8. All got sent back to Shimano.
  9. Yes I have the Mark 1s. Just before my local shut down I had a play with the Carbon versions and they were very nice.
  10. I pair mine with some Pen Affinities. A couple of newer models have since come out but the reels are great and make for a balanced set up.
  11. Elmo Hydrotuff is quite a thick mainline so I would go with the 12lb and a leader.
  12. I wouldn’t tie a loop knot to then tie another knot to that. I would join the 2 materials together using a leader knot. Either a back to back grinner or Mahin knot for Fluoro to mono.
  13. Carpology seem to be advertising BMG tackle heavily at the moment and I’ve just checked their site and may be the one. Looks like they have just trimmed a bit off of the aligner bit.
  14. Looking at the Gardner Tackle website HydroTuff is only available in Low Viz Green now. There is a note at the saying "*Limited stocks available of old style packaging of 10lb in Low-Viz Green and 12lb and 15lb in the superb Deep Brown." so you may struggle to find it in brown now.
  15. Take a look at the Fox Easy Splice Needle. A bit different from the normal splicing needles as it doesn't have a hook but is twisted metal instead. Might just be what you are looking for.
  16. Just to throw a spanner in the works, I would hold off as Penn are just about to release Carbon Affinities and see how much these cost.
  17. Nick you managed to get your hands on the Korda Prototype?
  18. What Hooks do you normally use? Are these available in Barbless? If so I would stick with what you are confident in and I just like to add a bit of shrink tube to help keep the hook in place.
  19. I tried them for a water I was fishing with a barbless only rule. They were pretty good, found they came up a bit small for the size stated so that's something to bare in mind when buying them.
  20. Thanks Nige would be good to know.
  21. Nige do you happen to know if the Stiff version can be crimped?
  22. They look good in all the tank tests they do and they do disappear on any lakebed colour but do you really need to use a leader? If you want to use something behind the lead there is so much quality tubing out there now I would opt to use that.
  23. They have just brought out the full range in barbless fella, good to see you back.
