  1. I used to spray them with WD40 and wipe off the excess prior to a wet and windy session which improved this somewhat, yet my boys “budget” fox mini microns at £20 a pop have got completely soaked, dropped, stored in a damp garage covered in mud and all he’s ever had to do is change the batteries once in the last 2 years. They’ve never missed a beat Well a night in front of the log burner has dried them right out and solved the issue, so I guess it was moisture in the alarm as suspected
  2. I checked delkim website mate, they no longer support the Delkim EV as they are over 10yrs old 🙄
  3. I’m gonna pop it in there tonight and see how we get on. I’ve had lots of water ingress issues with delks in the past so it probably has something to do with it
  4. Yes, I’m having another issue with another alarm… I have a set of 3 Delkim EV alarms that have been stored for about 2yrs, they were my boys alarms, the red and green alarms still work well, but the blue one wasn’t used for ages as he only had a 2 rod set up. I’ve dug them out and changed the batteries so I could use them for a second set up and when I changed the battery in the blue alarm (which was totally dead) it just screams like I’ve had a ripping take. I’ve tried cleaning the alarm, but no joy. Any idea what the issue is? It worked fine before being stored away in its case in the shed.
  5. To be fair, my water fishes so damn slowly through the winter that it could have been muted for months and I wouldn’t have noticed 🙄
  6. Embarrassed confession time buddy… it was on mute… 🫣
  7. Standard mate. Many thanks mate, I’ll check that out 👍
  8. Anyone technically minded who can shed some light on why my neville alarm has decided to go silent on me? It worked fine last session, but today, switched it on, it made the usual beep as it switches on, but spin the roller and it’s silent. LED lights up fine. Changed the battery, no change. Checked the circuitry, all looks ok, no loose wires or dodgy solder (that’s happened in the past) so I don’t know what’s wrong. any ideas?
  9. the boys rods out on the spots
  10. day trip on the park lake I lost a bream 🙄
  11. That’s the one! Thanks Nick
  12. You might want to check the stove is still serviceable after that long, rubber O rings etc haven’t perished? I only use gas, but I seem to remember someone using one after it had laid up for a while and it catching fire? (Thinking about it, I’m sure Rod Hutchinson wrote about an incident like that in the carp strikes back?)
  13. my rods out into open water
  14. the boys rods out against the reeds
  15. only a couple of little ones, but first one each of the new year
  16. So this morning, I went down to christen my new Fox Horizon X3s rods at the local pond, first cast with the new toy and… not what you want with a new rod!! quick call to Poingdestres to explain the situation, and after taking my name and order details, tell me they will call me back as soon as possible. 10mins later and true to their word, they call me to let me know that having found my order number and details, a new tip section is already being packed and posted and should be with me mid week. for after sales service, I can’t fault them, excellent service! as for the rods, I own 10 fox rods (well 9 and a 1/2 right now!) 3 fox warriors, 4 fox torque and these 3(ish) horizons, so I reckon I was just unlucky with a dodgy blank this time round
  17. needless to say nothing was caught last night
  18. Sorry to hear about this mate
  19. I’ve got a set of Fox Horizon X3-s 12ft 3.5lb tc rods, you’ll pick them up new for £98 each, (I don’t think they’ve been out long) they’re pretty stiff, they will cast far further than I’ll ever need! They’re coupled with fox eos 12000 reels and Diawa tournament line in 18lb test, the diameter is pretty thin for a line of this strength, it will send a 3.5 or 4oz lead lovely. downside is I feel like I’ve got 3 beachcasters balancing on the Neville’s 🙄 it’s a balance though, I still use my 3lb fox torques for a lot of sessions, but they won’t do the distance the horizons will, not in my hands anyway
  20. I know exactly what you mean mate, when a water gets under your skin, you just gotta fish it out of your system! There’s one or two waters I’d be on now if I hadn’t moved back to Sussex, I haven’t been able to find their like on the waters around here
  21. the boy’s Christmas present going for their maiden outing
  22. Also I’m very sorely tempted by a set of fox horizon x3-s 12ft rods… 🙄
  23. Recent purchases include 3x fox warrior 12ft 2.75tc rods, 3x shimano 1000 bait runners, 3x stow basix bobbins, 1x fox mini micron alarm, 3x unbranded but grips, 1 rod bag and 3 rod sleeves. It’s time my boy upgraded his lil £30 9ft rods, so this will be his Xmas present
