  1. i heard from a reliable source that cromwell lake is for sale and has been on the market for a few years, its just north of newark on trent google the website hope this helps
  2. has any one ever fished the lake at cannon hall, south yorks, if so are there any carp or tench stocked in it
  3. stick with sapphire its not that hard a water and its so pretty! the owner is a great guy just get to know the water and it will reward you
  4. just as a footnote to NIDGEWOODCOCK`S post, i absolutely agree about staying away from complicated rigs, most of the time a simple no knot hair rig will do the honours but by all means learn to make the complicated rigs for when you might need to use them
  5. loads about, looks like milton pools oxford has put some huts up or maybe they have turned pig farmers
  6. interesting, i drove past it today and had a longing look, very pretty lake
  7. Raptors and the fox all very good, a while back i bought some cheap hooks of fleabay and i tried one on a surface rig, it snapped after i caught it on a small branch, binned the lot!
  8. i tend to only use it to trap the hair to the shank of the hook but each to their own
  9. hi sam, how did you get on at sapphire? sally walshes dam used to hold a carp called sally and it was yorkshires biggest carp till it died think it was high fortys, think you can fish on a day ticket or join the angling club think its barnsley that control the water, still got some good carp and some cats in it
  10. strip it with fingermails if you strip swivel end it creates a hinge effect
  11. well i have been using esp raptor size 9 so not far of the mark
  12. Hi all, when using 2 grains of fake corn popped up what hook is best with this rig, and is it better to use a large or small hook
  13. im soooo lucky, my girlfriend is interested in fishing and loves camping so taking her with me, and she a fantastic cook .....life is good
  14. hi all, has any one fished sapphire lately, as im doing a weekend there soon just wondered what bait and tactics are working cheers
  15. standard good old fashioned hair rig for me with bottom baits and maybe a little different for pop ups on the rare occasion i use them, the mags are always trying to get anglers onto the latest wonder rig , or super duper 3.7/8 tc rod and such, just to keep mail opprder tackle outlets busy/ happy
  16. broadlands is a lovely lake hope you do ok you could try 2 grains of fake corn on the hair and put some real corn in the method mix
  17. sorry to say it again but dont get bogged down with different baits stick to jamies bait its only £6 a kilo and it works in there, i tried alsorts of baits and my mate did a lot better than me, he was using the local bait!
  18. hi mate i did a week on emmotland last week i fished pond 2 as like you i heard pond one is very hard, use the bait sold at lake it seems to work and is well priced and well made if you go on lake 2 try for peg 4, seems a good peg and dont be put of by all the lillys just use good line at least 12 lb strain and check all knots are good! final tip make sure you get a breakfast from the bailiff (jamie) smashing chap, really helpful
  19. have a look at their web site mate, think they have carp to around mid thirties, and proper carp, right old warriors, think i will do august bank holiday weekend on sapphire, one draw back is london-north east railway runs near to lakes so can shatter the peace at times!
  20. hi mate, sapphire is a lovely lake with some very nice fish, but its a tricky water though if you get it right you will love it, good luck
  21. just keep it simple and as a footnote keep the rigs safe! fish welfare always comes first
  22. hi mate try the search button i think there are a good few lakes in your area, also ask in your local tackle shop
  23. the lakes just of the M1 are horbury and wakefield lagoons controlled by wakefield angling there was some story going about that a night angler got beat up and mugged but heard another story that i wont repeat. i was on club book, its a hard water and i left because they banned night fishing and everyone pulled of, but not sure if night fishing is back again
  24. st johns is a very heavy pressured water the fish have seen nearly all the tricks, but i would try 2 grains of boyant fake corn popped up and spod/catty some real corn over it, little and often, the water is gin clear and the bottom is very rough from the gravel, i made the mistake of fishing far side of a big gravel bar, that cost me a BIG fish as the gravel bar wore through my mainline (sensor at time) if when you get there have a good look at manor farm as less people fish on manor and its closer to the bogs/shower car park good luck, i was plagued by bad luck on there
