Okay so i ordered a used bivvy of ebay, an Avanta one night stand for sensible money, the good thing about this is it can be used as an open front shelter or bivvy so i will reluctantly sell my westlake bivvy shelter to help recoup some cost and less kit to store
-
I have used bank tackle a fair amount through ebay and no problem at all
-
No pictures as i dont have it yet but the wonderful chap that built my 8ft cane rod is busy with a new commission rod for me, this is a cane 10ft 1.5lb avon done in shall we say a "Walker MK4" rod

Been away on a little holiday so late to reply to this but, i think i am gonna sack this idea of, cut my loss`s put the new sleeping bag on fleabay along with airbed when it arrives. I get that lots or most fisheries wont allow tents....even if said tent is camo and looks like a bivvy, i would only be doing a max of 3 separate 24 hour sessions in a year during decent summer weather so i am just not prepared to shell out for a bivvy or brolly system and bedchair that will be plain an simple in the way at home. i just cant justify the expense of this and try to store bulky items
-
After a bit of googling yes it seems most fisheries wont allow tents, good job i have not bought one yet, so looks like a bivvy or just forget the idea glad jh92 pointed this out at this stage i can get a wrap skin for my westlake day shelter or get an NGT XPR brolly system
-
completely wrong, i am 61 and still take the wife camping several times a year, for this we have a fairly large tent, double air bed with electric pump, the pump is 12v and can be used with the new single bed, so i am just fine sleeping on a decent air bed, and dont have a barrow, there is zero point spending £400-700 on a bivvy, bedchair and carp sleeping bag to use for 2-3 nights in a year
-
Having been back at carp angling for a year after the massive long break, i did not figure to go back to doing any overnight sessions at all, years ago i sold of my bivvy and bed chair, i also promised my good lady i would not do nights, so as a compromise i have found a lake i can do 24 hour sessions on and my mrs can stop at a good friends house close by in catterick 5 mins from green lane fishery. Seeing as this night fishing is gonna be limited to less than 5 24 hour trips in a year i have decided to do a bad thing and get a pop up green tent, single air bed and generic 4 season sleeping bag, all this gear is a nice way to avoid carp tax with the whole lot costing less than a bedchair and taking up a tiny bit of room, i have brew making and cooking gear in our main camping kit, sadly this will have to wait till next year before i can go, but moving in right direction

I bought the NGT stalker 9ft 2 piece, it looks very well made nice smart modern looking rod but seems rather stiff for the given test curve, so i ended up getting and angling direct 7ft river ambush 1.75lb rod and its pretty soft in the tip, very sensitive and have to say rather nice, im super pleased with it but would not want to fish a lake that has carp above mid to high double with it
-
the pop up was very blatent, when i fish pop up i tend to put the shot a couple of mm behind the hook eye keeping it as low as possible..........................still dont catch though
-
Very silly little item but picked up a new bait needle this was about £3.30 ish on ebay, but a really nice well designed little item, a very short needle with a recessed catch for line loop this should be great on small pop ups and little wafters
-
Talking of hooks, i decided to try a pack of Bankside tackle BT continental wide gape size 4, have to say they turn every time, very "point heavy" I also got an Advanta river ambush 7ft 1.75lb rod and had a couple of fish on oi, very impressed so far club forced me to get a weigh sling/retainer
-
Very interesting topic, the club i fish insist on carp care solution and seem to favour propolis as the one to use, having read comments about maybe sealing in nasties i am not keen to use it, i bought the propolis to replace my ancient bottle of Klin-ik, that is maybe 15 years old, i was gonna bin the Klin ik but maybe i will keep it for a while...........though 15 years might be pushing it a bit

I managed to break the blank spell yesterday and got not one but a pair of nice mirror carp, this was on Aireys pool, the middle size pool on the complex, 1st fish came pretty soon after setting up using very light tackle (new Adventa river ambush 7ft 1.75 lb rod and 4000 size mini freespool) this was on corus nut cluster 15mm boilie and a proper one tone solid run 12 3/4 lb second later in day was a charming 9.8lb scrapper on a Mulbz 12mm pop up bait, well chuffed, the first fish had a couple of sore looking lightly lifted scales so a good dose of Propolis !!!Yes i really do need a good hair cut lol!!!
-
Seriously wish i could move on from this near perpetual run of blanking
-
Finally finished watching this very long video and totally enjoyed it, felt it was very well filmed and produced and as always Terry was on top form
-
lovely fish good luck again
-
Never had any luck on Nash bait but then never have much lick on any bait lol, but sorry to see an iconic brand leaving the market
-
Fished local small lake today for 4 hours just a short sess, blanked as usual but saving myself for a club match on same pond, no keepnets just biggest fish wins really looking forward to this event in 2 weeks, also today i used the new cheap shakespeare aspect 1.5lb 11ft rod and despite it arriving a little bashed it may well prove to be a nice rod for small waters/small fish
-
good spot but that is a feeder rod im looking out for 10 or 11ft sundridge light carp rod, and a mate has 4 of them and does not use them, i may end up having to go for a modern rod also considering getting another cane rod made by the chap that did my 8ft
-
Ordered a Shakespeare Aspect 11ft 1.5lb tc rod from err.....go outdoors not overly impressed as it arrived with 2 bent rod rings and some compression gouges on the eva grips despite being posted in a strong carboard tube, but i will use it as its only for small lake with carp to mid doubles and rod only cost £25, it will tide me over till i find something nice like a mint Sundridge vitesse 11ft
-
Give it a go, maybe a bit old school in this modern world but no reason for it not to work
-
was a bream not eel though both as snotty as can be, was on a barbel rod not carp rod...........not caught an eel in like 40 years
-
Decided to fish the little pond for next couple of months due to mass of week and constant closures on main lake, did a cheeky early 4 hour session this morning but sadly the carp were not having it, ended up with a 2lb snotty
-
Got of my backside and went in loft got the mint Diawa 12 foot twin tip Pro Barbel rod out and as a nice bonus found my long lost Leeda Zoo creature carp feeder rod
