  1. Errm yep its a forum. I dont live too far from Derby so I can do a quick internet recce and let you know some venues that claim to have big fish in them. I can even meet you there for a day session if you like.
  2. I would ditch the bead on the hook and use a small ring instead then because youve scattered the boilies around a large area I would up the length of the rig to 12". Im like the idea of a half and half bait as it will look a bit more like the freebies. You havent used corn as a prebait so the use of one to give the bait some movement or a fleck of colour seems pointless. what colour do your baits wash out to? I would use half a pop up that matches the washed out shade. well done for putting it on the forum.
  3. do you think the change would get you more bites? Why not try one on one rod for a few sessions and see what difference it makes. One change at a time.
  4. Fletch you are a carp.com member and I wouldnt dream of taking money from you when I will be travelling to the same venues. I will pm you and we can sort out somewhere to go.
  5. have a look at fisheries.co.uk
  6. I have a friend in the Tamworth, polesworth area keeping an eye on the canal for me now, so could be worth a start there.
  7. The bit where the carp are!!! I doubt they will be spread around like currants in a cake so a bit of a recce will be needed I reckon.
  8. im not im from Rugby. I was sent to coventry once but that was only for a short time. lol
  9. Have you any areas in mind Fletch? Im not too far away and am always looking for different venues to try.
  10. Got any pics? I like the idea, have you tried it yet?
  11. a chod rig will work anywhere, it is designed to, however once you have discovered what the bottom is really like then there are other more suitable rigs out there that will work too. I fish at a venue that is silty and have been using a small bag of boilies attached to the hook so that the bigger surface area stops them being masked by the soft silt. The lead is just heavy enough to get me the distance I need and ive wacked it with a hammer so it is flat and doesnt sink in as far. The hook length is simply 8 inches of supple braid tied in a knotless knot with no tubing, rings or fancy gubbins on it.
  12. two cats, a tank full of fish and a bearded dragon.
  13. i might be down there this weekend.
  14. Hi Aaron welcome to the forum. Ive only fished there once and that was many years ago. Im sure some of the other lads will be along soon to give you some info.
  15. I always use enterprise. you should be able to get 3 big hairy carp anglers and all the associated kit into a VW Transporter size van.
  16. Giz a bell if youre there over the weekend I dont live far away. I used to work about 700 yds away until today, and travel past it twice a day. There are loads of pegs as most of it is boarded. The longer stay carp lads tend to go down the left hand side by the entrance there are a few well worn pegs down there that will accomodate a bivvy. Im not sure what direction your coming from but if you miss the entrance then it is safer to carry on and go round the roundabout and back to the entrance. There have been a few bumps on the road outside the entrance because of cars suddenly braking. I spent a few years in the RAOC at Bracht.
  17. the basic rules are get there early and enjoy your fishing. When are you thinking of going my little ammo tech buddy? I can go and have a look tomoz if you like.
  18. hiya and welcome to the forum. whereabouts in the midlands are you? there are lots of places and the midlands is a large area. If you can narrow it down a tad that would be cool.....
  19. The French might be rude and call you fat but I dont think they will make you pay.
  20. Near Tamworth Kingsbury water park and the pretty pigs lake. down the road towards rugby you have Lakeside at Hinckley and for coventry you have coombe abbey or Bishops Bowl.
  21. I think we should all take a picture of our boxs and post them up. I have a small bits box and a bait tub and thats about it.
