  1. OK my last post on this thread. I dont think im the forum police at all. I have an opinion and im allowed to voice it. I didnt think it was right to join a new forum tell us naff all about yourself and ask an immediate question about syndicates. I do post a lot of replies to questions and you have a choice to read them and disregard them or to take the advice and use it in your own situations. Niall to answer your first question there are three syndicates that I know of in OUR area the first is at Clifton Lakes on the edge of Rugby (not my first choice and I wouldnt even bother to suggest it really) the other two are at Stanwicks lakes on the edge of Rushden. You wont get onto the Roman lakes syndicate unless you know someone on there already, despite what it says on the website, youi need to be voted on by all the current members and if one of them black balls you then you wont get on. How do I know that? do the sums. Lenny if you ever met me you would soon realise that I am not a keyboard warrior, but seeing as you dont join in the forum all that often and Ive never seen you at any of the socials then you wouldnt know that would you.
  2. Oh join in then Jason im hitler now am I. Have a read of my post properly and have a think about it before you go gobbing off.
  3. Guys lets not paint me as an ogre, I have already welcomed Niall to the forum. I just don't think its right to ask for syndicate info as a very first post that's all. What's wrong with a bit of a chat first and then ask? If you think im pig headed and harsh then so be it, I don't mind.
  4. James its not harsh at all and if you think it is then you need to read it again. Yes it is a forum and we do share info and learn stuff but to join, tell us nothing about yourself apart from you've just returned do you think you would be a good syndicate member? I wouldn't vote for you to join mine. Join in the questions and answers, take part in the banter, maybe even attend a social get to know us and let us get to know you first. I will ignore your request to jog on, I don't run for anyone...
  5. Oh no doubt there is someone on here that knows the better syndis, but why should we spill the beans to someone we don't know? Your first post and your asking for info that only goes out to trusted members and even then it will be by pm.
  6. I prefer to use barbed hooks unless the rules state barbless of course.
  7. If you go on the Linear Fisheries website it will say. Also get in touch with Chris Blunt on there and he will meet you at the venue and spill the beans. I havent fished Oxlease yet I prefer Hardwick/Smiths, some times I even have a mega spodding session on B2.
  8. I spent the Sunday on a small lake (re opening) fishing for carp. Its a small pool 1.5 acres with two small islands and plenty of bays and bushes etc. There are 9 very spacious bark chip lined swims situated areound the lake each one having its own particular set of features to fish to. I had three Carp out two under 10lbs and one mid teen double. They went off like rockets and on my 2.5 TC rods and 8lb line they felt like much much bigger fish. A very pleasant venue costing a tenner for a full day. Pear Tree Lake just outside Hartest opposite the Pet Feed stores.
  9. sounds like you enjoyed the trip. well done.
  10. Thanks Neal its given me a few ideas. I am booked onto a lake for the 16th June also so im just looking for somewhere for the day time on the saturday really.
  11. Im staying in BSE in few weeks are there any day ticket venues I might try that are close by?
  12. As you already said it has anti tangle properties, it works over nearly all types of bottom and can be cast out when an angler is not sure of the lake bed or whats in front of him or her. It gives confidence and it works. I travel to a lot of venues for 36 and 48 hr sessions and once I have set up my unhooking mat and landing net a bright pop up goes out on a chod rig while I use my other rod to have a quick look around with a lead and float. Its all about optomising the maximum time available. Depending on what I find I will alter my rigs and baiting stratergy to suit.
  13. you could try and book the alamo at Orchid lakes.
  14. i dont think so but I might be able to steal a few hours on the sunday, hope youve got some brew kit.
  15. thats what this forum is all about
  16. why not go to lakeside and join stevo2zero then.
  17. Yeah the 12lb line would be ok. Your line doesnt necessarily have to sink really as you want your bait up on top of the detritus (chod) crap, rubbish and dead leaves. I fish mine naked and as light as possible. onto my main line I thread a small 4mm bead that has been punctured sideways (not through the hole) then I put my swivel on followed by another 4mm bead punctured sideways then I tie my line to a 2 or 3 oz lead depending on the distance I need to get it. my hooklength about 2" of amnesia is then tied to the swivel. the beads will slide under pressure and I can put them anywhere along my mainline. It keeps it nice and simple and it sinks slowly and rests on the top of the chod/weed etc
  18. The hook length and hook size sounds ok but why have you got a length of 20lb line ? is it tied direct to your main line? It will have a knot in it that the sinker and bead might not be able to pass over if your main line snaps. much better to have your mainline go straight through to the lead, then if you get a crack off the sinker and bead can slide off the end easily.
  19. in that case if your fishing it on a monday, remember that a fair bit of bait will have gone in over the weekend.
  20. when you say next week, what dates ? Its gets very busy at the weekends at the moment.
  21. Hello and welcome to the forum. I was down to be a member there this year but I heard too many horror stories about the place. There are not that many Carp in there despite the stories. Not sure what the bit is thats sticking out probably a home made snag of some sort. Access is not easy and the small car park gets very muddy when it rains. There is also a bit of an issue with the evening youth of the area. I know its probably not what you wanted to hear but never mind.
  22. Particles will catch you bream and roach. Its also quite shallow and the birds will find it. Use boilies on a long hooklength or even a chod rig. Have a look at the pics in noels hut, I should be in there somewhere.
  23. I fish there, speak to noel the bay leaf for the current hot spots. Its very silty and has a lot of black leaf detritus on the deck. Keep your rigs simple and your leads small and a decent bait and you will be ok. I prefer the Blair witch woods side. There was a 27 out recently.
