  1. Plain Basic Line aligner for bottom baits, and D-Rig for Pop-ups. Pics on this Sticky: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?p=276520#276520 Plus I have put StarBaits line aligner on there as well. If anyone else has any Rig Pics they want put up then I'll do it for them, just PM me the pics and they'll go straight up
  2. lol, I know about the Search facility being a bit of a Pain at times. Ask for one item and 2564 threads come up and not all of them relevant. It depends on what you want to do with it. Vitalin mixed stiff can be used as a Method Mix if soaked and then Drained off. Or if you want a milky cloud with it then let it take on too much water. When its wet I find it comes out of a spod better. It also mixes with other Groundbaits well. When I do that I tend to put enough Boiling Water to wet it, leave it over night, and then mix dry groundbait or Base Mix into the Vitalin next day.
  3. Thats it, do we often overcomplicate things?
  4. And I was just about to give you a smart remark as well. The best way I found to prepare Vitalin was to pour boiling Water over it the night before I used it. Just not always possible on the Bank. I used to keep some Vitalin and Particles in the Car when I went for a couple of days. Every time I would go I would pour some Particles straight onto it the Day before I needed it. So if I was fishing for 3 days I would have a Bucket of Vitalin prepared at home with Boiling Water. As soon as I had put that in the Lake I would top the Bucket up with Fresh Vitalin and then pour some of the Particles in on top of it. Basically you can use the Vitalin almost dry, but I prefer a reasonably wet mix for the Spod.
  5. Hi Beccs, Welcome to the Forum. Try this:http://www.gosfieldlake.co.uk/ I did ask about it earlier in the thread, but have found this about about it. Nick
  6. >Howle Fisheries, Howle Pool, Newport, Shropshire. > >A beautiful, spring-fed, 3 acre pool, depth 2 to 5 feet, situated a mile off the A41 (Wolverhampton to Chester road), between Newport and Market Drayton. > >Fully stocked in July 2004, with Carp (mirror and common) to 15lbs (and still growing!), also Roach and Tench. > >Day tickets, £5 adults, £3 under 13's, available from Howle Manor farmhouse, which is between the pool and the main road. > >Night fishing is £12, by prior arrangement only. > > > >Contact Andrew and Jane Watson Jones > >01952 550308 >
  7. Thats it, I'm going to start a SUPPORT WEELEY FISHERY Petition!
  8. Stick to some of the Basic Rigs on here: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185 and you won't go far wrong I reckon
  9. The thing I would suggest is to get used to a couple of hooklink materials, 1 braid (coated or uncoated), 1 mono, 1 Fluorocarbon and get them to work for you. It may mean being different from other anglers on the waters you are fishing. As for advice on 3 lakes I would recommend having a look in UK Where to Fish or Finding a Carp Water, if there is nothing available ask in there (1 post in one or the other not both )
  10. This thread may help. Its called Hooklink materials http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=27331
  11. This May help as well http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=27237
  12. go on matt heyes makes my kit look like a starter kit from Argos. have you ever side hooked bolies? as have been thinking about it but don't no any one who has give it a go. i have come up with a way that alows the bolie to move clear from hook with ease but is firm enough to withstand the cast. Just thinking that fish as they age they wise up to straight hook baits of corn and the like, as well as hair rigd ones. but doubt that many have come across a sided hooked bolie, or do you no of good reason for this? and could it be a moment of maddnes on my part? If a water has not been fished before then the hair is not a requirement. Its only when Side or Eye Hooking gets blown/the Carp get wary of them, that we need to go to the Hair Rig. Its also a Point of ease to mount a bait on the Hair rather than Side Hooking. Even on many waters that have been fished with the hair then Soft Baits like Luncheon Meat, Sweetcorn and the like, can still work with Side Mounting. Saying that though, the way that many fish with the Bait tight to the Shank on short hairs then the hooking arrangement is almost identical to Shank/Side mounting. If you really want to go into that though have a look at "my" Complicated Rigs thread in the Advanced Section of the Forum. Its long winded, headache inducing, but covers loads of information, experiments and ideas.
  13. Got all of these in the Tackle Box for different situations: Kryston Super Mantis, Mantis Gold, Supersilk, SuperNova, Merlin, Carp-R-Us Clearwater fluorocarbon, Amnesia 15 and 30lb White, Drennan Fly Leader in 12lb and Big Fish Adventure Deception in Silt Colour (now marketed by Wychwood?) Its strange though, nearly all my Bottom Bait rigs get tied up with Mantis (either version), Supernova or Merlin. The Amnesia is there for Combi and Stiff Rigs and the 30lb for Shock Leaders. The Clearwater is very rarely used except for Zigs and the Fly Leader for Surface Fishing. The BFA Deception I do use when it matches the bottom better than the Kryston (not often)
  14. I believe that there is a water in the area called Howle Pool. I have got some details for a Lake in the area. Please PM me if you want details as I'm just waiting for an Update to come through from the Owner
  15. I did ask in another thread has anyone any views on Halstead/Gosfield and Foxearth Fisheries? Fish Sizes, Season Tickets costs etc. I know Foxearth just went kind of Syndicated, but still with a Day Ticket As to location, rigs and Bait, I'll do the Hard work myself.
  16. I knew it was up in the Air as NACA used to run it for CEMEX then Barford got involved. New stocks were going to be put into Days lake as some of the Older Fish died, but have not been fishing in Norfolk for a little while. Be quite a Hard job to net Days Lake, and probably some of the others around the back
  17. Or discharge it too easily? Knew that there was a reason I preferred Tulip Beads and Solar's Bullet Buffer and Safety Beads I did used to use Breakaway Spin Link Clips with the Rig attached to them. I did find though that at times there was too much of a Pivot point and movement between the Rig and the Lead when using the Quick Link type of attachment. I also had a friend lose a Big Fish at the Net when the Quick Link gave way and opened out. Its a Fish that was last put on the Bank at 28lb, but has grown, we reckon at least 4lb a year since then. Also discovered that using PVA Bags I can come up with the same sort of Presentation as the Quick Link and Groundbait Sticks
  18. Lol, I even remember a few instances of a Bare Hook being cast out over Hemp and catching!
  19. Yes and yes! If you thread Hemp onto the Hair then I would suggest that you use Uncooked Hemp for the Hookbait (NOTE THIS IS FOR THE HOOKBAIT ONLY!). Definitely needs to be dry for it to stick to the Bogey.
  20. I have removed many of the Posts on this thread, posts referring to Alarms, Rods and some simply because Text Talk and the Spelling was so Bad. I did split and move some of the Posts on it into the Catch Report section The Subject is Big Carp in Essex. Please stick to the Topic
  21. Lol, I do that, then when I want them forget that they are there. I also have this problem that I see them sat in the Tackle Box, and look closely and realise that the Flipping things have perished when I need them
  22. Hookbait can be whatever you put in the Method Mix. The more ingredients and bits you have in your groundbait the more options you have for hookbait. If you search "method feeder" there is a thread on that that came up not that long ago I wouldn't use Shot on the Line when Carp Fishing as I worry about weak points that they may create. When Float Fishing I often Make a loop with the Mainline (not a knot) and thread that loop through the eye of the Float. Pull the Loop over the top of the Float and then pull the line tight, it creates a "lock" for the Float so that it doesn't move. You can also loosen it and slide the Float shallower or deeper. You can still use a standard swivel for the Hooklink attachment, giving you the choice of changing hooklink lengths quickly.
  23. Fish it Semi-Fixed so that on taking the Bait the Carp hook themselves against the weight of the Floating Feeder. Not sure of the Attachment of them, if you post a pic of it I could probably tell a good way of attaching it to the Mainline so that it can come off in the event of a breakage. As to hooklink length Experiment, as to what depths the Carp will take the Bait. Sometimes it may only be 5cms below the feeder, sometimes a lot longer using a slowly sinking Bait.
