Had a fair old drive to Kings Lynn yesterday (90 mins each way) to buy a Drennan Acolyte plus 10' feeder rod. Plan is to pair it with a Daiwa ninja 3012a come payday (this Friday). Then I just need a light unhooking mat, and it's here fishy fishy π£π

Of course. Work based guidance trumps general advice. The government have no specific guidance anymore though. Guess everyone thought it was much worse than it is, and early on it was. Most strains seem to have mutated to flu like now. Strange time to be alive, that's for sure.

There are no rules on isolating with COVID now. It's recommended you try to isolate for five days if you test positive, but not required. A vaccination will reduce the chance of severe complications, but does not stop you catching it. When I caught it I didn't even know. I've had worse flus. I guess I'm lucky since I'm in an at risk group, it's just as well! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sorry for your loss mate. Pets are family too...

I think the performance is the way to go bud. There's a carpography on YouTube where they compare and review all the spots and spombs out there. Take away was, they all use them. Very happy with mine, and it floats.

I've just used the small, blue handled from this set, to splice some Gardener camflex lead free leader. A bit fiddly. Definitely an art to it, and practise needed, but no dramas, two good splices, and a good needle. Apparently easier with heavier lead ore, so try 65lb if the 45lb is too fiddly (and it is fiddly!) Good luck bud https://www.amazon.co.uk/NGT-Fishing-Tackle-Tool-Set/dp/B00GJW0P9O/ref=asc_df_B00GJW0P9O/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=218046489762&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15610305575061201744&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045078&hvtargid=pla-426455486375&psc=1

Subsonik line - any opinions or reviews?

That's not good at all. How do you do your test? Proper machine,? -
I've found Raja store in Cavendish Street, Ipswich to be good for semolina, flours and other reasonably priced base mix ingredients. My first hand rolled boilies were ingredients from there (semolina, soy) and some fishmeal from Copdock Mill. I seem to remember catching on them too. Doesn't have to be carp taxed to work.

Air Drying/Rehydrating The Alternative View
dalej2014 replied to hutch's topic in UK Bait and Bait Making
Interesting topic. Here's my thoughts. No science behind this other than common sense. Imagine your bait is a bath spnge, when it's fresh out of the pan. Full of water, but also freshest. That's a fresh boilie for me. Now imagine you leave it a few hours/days whatever until it's dry. If you rehydrate with water you're back where you started, almost. Of course with a boilie the ingredients are not quite as fresh, but with MPG or similar, close enough. Here's where it gets interesting though. What if you don't use water, but instead another liquid? You can now introduce no end of variety as you re-hydrate. Even better, if done hours or days before fishing it's going to look washed out, but is pumping out more attraction than the fresh boilie. So I think the last option best of all given time and opportunity to do it. Air dryed, then rehydrated with added attraction. If you do that several times and introduce powders when the liquid is still moist you're boosting your bait even more, to my mind anywy. There are a number of anglers and baitr companies doing this now. Good use of time and energy or gimmick? Time and captures will tell I guess. -
Nice write up Danny, and good luck with it! Couple of thoughts, may or may not be useful. First thought - on silty lakes, washed out baits work well, but have you also looked at essential oils for boilie flavours (assuming you make your own?). These hold their flavour and scent a lot longer in silt. May be worth trying. Secondly the house pellets - can you make a paste by scolding them for 30 seconds then breaking down? May also be a winner with those wary fish? Anyway, saw you had the big girl out of there - well in, and good angling! Tight lines.

Kind of. Squid baits, wafters and stim, with premium pellet and black magic stim. Gotta be a catch

Ijust ordered some pellets, stim liquid, paste, wafters and so on from the new BAD Aquastim partner site. They were doing an Easter sale, so rude not to Pics to follow once order arrives...

Have you tried the easy splice? https://tacklebox.co.uk/terminal-tackle/rigs-and-rig-accessories/fox-edges-easy-splice-needle/

You need to add some liquid preservative with your liquids before rolling. You can buy bait preserver (CC Moore, AA baits, BAF etc), also sold as mono propylene glycol. Around 10ml per egg (up to 15ml) will do the trick, and keep your bait fresh. It's a human grade food product. Alternatively freeze your bait after drying for 48 hours, but it will start to go off once defrosted. Or you can use rock salt to preserve your boilies, but I don't have any experience of that myself. Hope this helps.
