Here's ya secret to the BEST pop ups in the WORLD, that i discovered recently from talking to a secret blackhat Carp fisherman on a HUGE 200 acre Gravel Pit lol! 1 egg mix: For best results NO Cheating! for 2 weeks coat ya cork balls in egg white only! add the following to ya 1 egg mix: : Thaumatin - Citric acid - Butterfat store in the fridge for exactly 27 hrs! now take ya liquid and mix ya paste, now store in fridge for 7 days, then coat ya cork balls & make popups, back in fridge for 7 days... ...now finally remove the baits and coat 'em in pure Citric acid, boil for exactly 69 seconds, dry for exactly 29 hrs, now the BIG SECRET...*microbial inhibition! BUT sorry i can NOT tell ya *that cos then YOU will discover how the carp can detect ya pop-ups from 1.2 miles away!

Tim Richardson Carp Bait Making Secrets: Is it worth that much?

YOU got ROBBED! As all i did years ago... was a quick google search for the pdf and it came up as a free download simply cos the muppet TR had NOT locked his site! AND...Yeah its GARBAGE! -
why don't ya use the CHEAP long 230g butane gas cartridges? .....together with an adapter, about 3 quid of fleabay: ebay.co.uk/itm/236606920387? then it allows you to use most stoves, even the cheapo chinky ones costing a tenner! you can get a pack of 4 cartridges 230g at B&M or home-bargains for £4.50 ...in fact last autumn they had lots of stock still left and reduced 'em down to 4 quid a pack, i bought a box full, will last me ages! great for winter, keep an eye out as previously home-bargains had the same cartridges in 'butane / propane mix gas 230g' but sell out fast!

Gardner ATTs Silent Alarms & ATTx Receiver
Old_Skool_Carper replied to ...'s topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
sorry i should of been more clear, its a slightly different design from the other 2 alarms - whereby a circuit wire keeps the back cover close to the main cover, i'll post a pic next time i do a battery change... -

Eventually I managed to get a great deal 2nd hand bundle of 5 atts-silent-alarms, sold 2 of the alarms on with the old receiver ...AND for myself bought the New Deluxe Receiver...must say I LOVE 'em they are supper ...imo BEST BUZZERS ever! got a question, 1 of my alarms is tricky to replace the battery, in other words the back cover does NOT come away from the alarm unit, like the other 2 - does this mean this was an early original alarm? thanks for any info! -

well nothing decent has come up 2nd hand wise, so i'm going to buy new! question if i may... you can still buy the buzzer with the LED to the left of the buzzer as new, the iW underlit version is £5 more, i actuly prefer the "LED to the left of the buzzer" ...is this an earlier model? surely no differance other than LED postion? cheers for any info! -

apologies for bringing up an old thread, but i'm looking to getting 3 of these buzzers for this season ....(wanted to buy some 5yrs ago, but a couple of anglers said they were rubbish )...may be able to get a decent 2nd hand ATT's set, as gardner this spring are bringing out a NEW ATT A alarm with speaker! [ facebook.com/reel/551231777923249 ] bought my Neville alarms 5 years ago, and they are OK-ish other than you have to flick the switch up and down to sort ya tones sounder box etc...when ya getting on... you forget how to do this lol!!! anyways....my questions are: 1/ you guys still using them... how are they still reliable ? 2/ are the 'rubbery' cases on earlier models or on all models, if buying 2nd hand any particular MK or year ? 3/ is there much difference with the standard compared to ATTs Deluxe Receiver ...other than distance away from rods? TIA, CHEERS! -

Questions from a new angler
Old_Skool_Carper replied to Tubbytom's topic in New to Carp.com, New to Carp Fishing
EASY, simply walk around the lake, once you spot an angler that looks to of caught, with his weight-sling etc drying out... set-up in the next swim, spy on him even using binoculars where hes putting his baits - spots are etc... then just before it gets dark or when said anglers kipping, cast as near to his spot as you can!!! BTW, welcome to the forum! -

I started carping in 79' back then both KM & RH books, plus the monthly fishing mag articles both hammered the High Nutritional Value theory as the way forward...it wasn't until I read a fascinating article mid-80's in BIG FISH Mag by Clive Dietrich (richworth baits, i still have that mag in the loft!) about low to mid-protein baits, brilliant piece, i kept that articles theme in my mind over the years... what i bolded above is SPOT on (similar views as Clive's article) in regards to how i make baits today

interesting post! where can i buy a tin of this, cheers! my view is & in agreement what rod hutchinson wrote all those years ago in: The carp strikes back...with 1 addition below* ie what i bloded in ya post "was missing from their food, carp would search out foods that provided all the nutrients they required" back then when most carpers made home-baits....most lakes get hammered with the going bait, early 80's semo-soya-flour sweeter flavor....once results started to flatter, someone tries protein AND cleans up! all get on to protein...at some point results decline, fish meal come alone, then meat, liver, then tigers, then hemp etc, etc ...a constant ongoing cycle... case in point, do ya remember the story about andy little on savay....he was spending a FORTUNE on protein, his results were TOP NOTCH ...however he couldn't afford the expense with the amount of protein he was paying out for, so he decided to do a test and substitute the milk-protein for semo-soya-flour mix ONLY using the same flavor as in the successful milk-protein, to his amazement he got the same successful results! * I believe carp have *ADDICTIONS* just like us lol who can resit eating a bag of cheddar cheese & onion crisps even knowing its c r a p junk-food? ...i open a 150G bag only want to eat a few BUT...end up scoffing the lot down in 1 sitting! its simply an addiction to those TASTY crisps even though you can eat bags AND still not feel full! If you look at the last 25 years the BIG NAMED brand commercial carp boilies sold, NONE are HNV...YET they WORK quite well don't they? I reckon the recipe guys behind the BIG brand commercial carp boilies are making bait based on the above*...of course imo.

Now i'm getting on...I don't do much now in winter unless the weather is reasonable, the temp must be at least 4 0C or above... Nick can i ask how old was your friend who died at the lake from a suspected heart attack?

New bedchair, HOW MUCH?
Old_Skool_Carper replied to commonly's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
indeed, £450 TOTAL ripoff!....ffs my solid wooden double- bed indoors i got FREE and I refurbished it AND added a new mattress total cost £120.00! i'm looking for a lite weight bedchair, (of course 2nd hand for me ) this came up in my search , NEVER used this brand, however they do have good reviews on amazon. this might be just what ya looking for: CARPZILLA Fishing Bed 6 Legs Dimensions (Unfolded): 215cm (L) x 95cm (W) x 33-51cm (H); - Maximum User Weight 150KG £78.84 with coupon code, a BARGAIN...as they go for around £110.00 -
i've used vecon for donkeys and always thought it was about the protein (58%), but in recent years i don't believe the HNV theory anymore, IMO i'm sure its the yeast the carp can detect and are attracted to...the Grandessa Mighty Yeast, has an Yeast Extract of (88%) so for this new season will substitute the vecon for 'Grandessa Mighty Yeast' and will give it a whole season and report back results🤞
