We are going for the fishing reels expecting better quality internal components but you lose a little bit of retrieve speed.  Will let you know what I get.  👍

Can get a decent XTB for £40-£50

I'm hoping keep it Shimano match my reels 👍

Was looking at the XTD Spod Reel....£100+ decent 2nd Hand 😱

Gotta replace my Shimano Spod reel it's almost ceased up 3 times now, difficult or impossible to turn the handle, but you can manually turn the front and it isn't old by any means, really disappointed in it tbh  My mates replacing his too as he's now expecting future trouble with it and has read other complaints online.  Seems they have lesser internals than the fishing reels.  For me it's like there's no grease in there and no local people doing servicing any more.  Will try to service myself and keep as a spare.

Think we're getting XTB's or something 200 each new, un-used but second hand that he's found online.

It's the most important set-up, I cast that more than anything every trip, so an upgrade seems sensible but an unexpected expense 👎

Money that I could be spending on go faster stripes for my baitboat lol - only kidding 🤣

I was thinking changing Spod Reel too, looking at the Aerlex XTB but heard a few people say the Bailarm sometimes closes mid cast and causes crack offs

Quite enjoy using a spomb, some of reservoirs I fish I'll be putting 5kg+ of boilie out every 24 hours, even more if I'm using particles 🤣

I'm sure sometimes that spomb hitting the water is like a dinner bell because I've had quite a few takes while I'm baiting up 🤔🤣

I think with a sonar feature finding becomes even more important tbh as you can really find some different spots, there are always the ones in most swims you can tell everyone uses because they are firm and large finding the smaller ones where you have seen them fizzing I've found to be the holy grail this year, I've found a few like this that aren't clear but with a bit of prebaiting become small but mighty dinner plates.

One of the lakes I can fish I once caught 10 in 24 hours, I've not fished it since was exhausting 😂 I think the key is enjoyment, I am always the first to congratulate people when they catch a good one, whatever method you are using it's usually taken a lot of effort or some good angling. Some people have time, I just try and do the best with the time I have, and I like to make the most of it. 👍

Yesterday thawed about about 3kg Particle for tomorrow, added the A Force Liquid to it for attraction.....question is to Spod or Boat out 🤔🤔🤔

Gonna look at the Park Lake 1st, but only 6 fishable pegs on there, and with the weather tomorrow n weekend, I think will be full (this lake would be boat job), then 2nd is the club lake (more or less guaranteed bites, but small ens) Spodding place this.

    Spooled this morning...

I'm out Friday 🎣🎣🎣, wait for lad finish school, then we're off....be doing until about Tea Time Saturday.

I'm going to leave the Amberswood Fishing until after the New Year, I'm gonna gather alot of info for the place 1st.

So this week its either the Club Lake I'm on or the Park Lake.....Club Lake more or less guaranteed bites but has had 2x 24hr Carp Matches in the last 2 weeks....Park Lake is abit harder but Fishbhave been coming out regular, Pristine they are, also Park Lake is literally 4 mins drive from house.

Think this weekend it's gonna be Park Lake, only because its closer, need be home Saturday tea time (ish), the Bait I've picked up this morning has been going in alot lately, and there switching onto it 🙏.

Also not fished it for a while, my last fish out there was June last year 😱

Ideally start putting bait in now & just trickle a bit of bait in to try and get a winter spot going.

I'm only just starting myself mate. I don't get the time to get any spots going.

I just listen to what and where other anglers have done and apply it to how I like to fish.

Going to the social last week on a day ticket, really showed how my approach has changed a lot to how I fish at the reservoir.

At the end of the day the fish still feed the same, its just a case of finding them😄

Also, it's getting to the lake, at moment car sharing with the wife....but the next 2 weekends after this 1 she's away Friday to Sunday and I'm off work, thinking of giving it a go 🤔, pellet n Corn to start ?

I don't have your experience of fishing a big water , Commonly , so I'm curious as to why you suggest a Winter campaign rather than now in the Autumn - I thought Winter was the hardest month ? .

Is it because the smaller fish are less active as it gets colder ? .

    😃

This would be my biggest water I've ever dabbled in....with it being a Free Water it's not written about much to be honest.

Gonna try n do some more findings about the place.

  10. Only that it's mega weedy during Summer months, lily pad roots....Double Corn bait tends to be written alot for the flashes, so don't see why not for here...plenty write ups for the Tench 8lb biggest I've found, Pike upto 30lb ??? The odd Carp apparently....but I'll take double figure Tench n Bream....I'm really thinking of going in 2 weeks for just a trial night???.....Pellet n Corn

    Just been told.......

Good 30 carp in.....know of a 28 27 a good few 20s loads of rest up and comers, big tench big black things some of them, yes big pike not really weedy more silty with pads.....

Been sent 3 more pics of 3 high 20's.

Sounds perfect for a winter campaign,  if you're up for it?

If not go next spring mate

Lovely fish, I bet thers a few more like that too!

Carp, Pike, Bream Tench.....Apparently all run into Double Figures.

I've got 2 Byometric Maps and 2 Deeper Mappings what a lad has done, but I'm not allowed to show anyone 🙄.

But I'm getting more and more fixated/fixated by this place.

I got the sonik spod reel this year with braid, I have snapped off three times spombing a small water, still got the spomb. The line really don't like hitting the clip, needs slowing down just before the clip.

Thinking I will spool some 50lb braid to replace what snapped, should do it without having to bother with a leader.

A mate got it also, the Sonik Spod reels are loaded with Green 30lb Spider Wire.

He's used it a few times so far and is happy (so far)

a crack off with 30lb braid going only 12 wraps, that's not right mate, should never snap when just flicking them out.  Even on a massive chuck it shouldn't crack off at 30lb.  My mate had some very dodgy whiplash, snapped like cotton, very weird, faulty!  Whereas my whiplash lasted a silly amount of years no issues ever

I've redone my spod setup, put the Braid on spare spool with the unused at the top now, added 50lb shockleader....but I've also ordered some 60lb Daiwa J Braid, it was on offer.....

Now I'm using 30lb Korda Basix to 50lb Korda Arma Kord, 4 turn B2B grinner.
