  2. I could never get into work overnighters found evening sessions on summer nights much better, I was even working at the council housing department so the days weren't what you would call work still too much though packing up at dawn.

  3. Yes please, Leon. Put me and my son Alan on the list. Not too fussed where or when. We're both self-employed so a few weeks notice of date would be useful. Ian.

    Thought of the Day pt.2

I did a fair few work over nighters and totally messed them up. I was always in a rush to set up and I'd never go further than half way up the lake to save a long walk back to the car park in the morning (not ideal when more often than not the fish were up the other end). So as with any session, don't rush and find them first or you are just wasting your time in my opinion. I'd pack up in the morning saying to myself "at least you got some bait in" 🤣

Sounds like sidecutters time! A right pain in the rectum, not nice to deal with. I've snipped a few hooks over the years, the 28lb 2tone from Nazeing was hooked hard, and it was safer to snip the hook, but that is the only big fish I can remember. That was on a curved longshank pattern as well. I seem to recall snipping a few Patridge Piggybacks.
