I definately went through a spell when match the hatch was more productive, I usually try one or two different ones just to see, no point having all 3 rods asking the same question, but I think for me location, spots, and preperation are more important, I think the freebies play a big part too, if they trough on them they are more catchable, something I will say for free though This years biggest lesson was........ If prebaiting a swim or you know the spots or whatever, when you get there to fish, before you whack out spombs of bait and crash leads around and spaff any early chances by setting the traps, just chuck out a rod with a mesh bag or something while you set the rest of the kit up, I've had a few quick bites just doing this, sometimes I've only got 1 or 2 rods out like this before its gone and that sets you up for a good session, đź‘Ť

  2. Falling in to the trap then saving yourself there. Worst thing we do as anglers is say “I changed to this bait and caught more” because we never really know. You could go hours without a carp in the swim, change and they turn up and feed. Who’s to say you wouldn’t have caught on what you had on before. as you said right place, right time, right everything to get that bite.

  3. I rarely put any bait in at the start of a session, and bait up on top of the rods after a couple of hours. One rod is always left unbaited, only the bag itself from the cast. I did used to tie pop-ups on through the rig ring, but found the thread and blob just as easy. The only exception now is if I tie a pop-up to the hair loop above a bottom bait to create a snowman.

  4. One from Bigg D on bottom bait fishing, thought i'd pop it in here save clogging the board up with vid threads. I do like the whole Korda thing and their end tackle it is very user friendly, before dan filled the shelves end tackle was very hit and miss it was the thinking anglers tv show that got me back out i wasn't going to bother as i'm really not keen on the carping lifestyle and social culture which seemed to be popping up all over the place. still gutted i lost my ticket so much for me saying it's a cack lake had big plans for a spod mix i think they would love, very little food but lots of comfort attraction a mix of worm soil, clay, and aloe vera sponded over the spot still going to give it a go but man has that potato annoyed me. Anyhow, the vid, nearly forgot to link it, lol.

They were fine with harder pop ups just when they are gooed they become a bit softer and occasionally come off easily, but I know what you mean can be frustrating bringing in no bait when you think you should've had a bite, tbh my goo findings have never been that conclusive anyway, I caught mainly caught on ungooed match the hatch last year a couple of pink goo specials but mainly match the hatch I think, that being said I think my match the hatch ones were usually in the right place lol,

I use fox fine bait needle to thread the floss, baitstop and blob tag ends for that very reason! With all the money, kit, effort in prebaiting, loading and setting up, the last thing you want is to loose your hook bait.

Until recently I would've said bait screw, but I've had a few return with no bait on since I've been dicking about with goos and that, if in doubt tie it on from now on i think

  9. We were away in the wobbly van and as the weather warmed nicely New Year's morning, I pulled this little fella out for 15lb 3oz. It was the first of five for the day but I was just delighted to kick off the New Year with a fish. So how did you do?

    Blyth waters

Hiya fishermen n fisherladies. My brother and I went to Blythe waters today , we arrived at 6:45 the gates were closed we thought great the reviews on Gail are true. We pulled up to the gates they opened automatically , sweet , we went in and were greeted by Gail. We spoke to her pleasantly and she was lovely, we had a nice conversation with her and she gave us advice on where to fish, she also told us she fished at least 2 hours a day herself and reminisced about her youth with her dad , she was a lovely lady and very helpful. In my opinion you get what you give , if your not nice expect it back , we had a great days fishing and the bacon and egg sarneys were great, too. If you want to fish a good venue with a good head of fish not budgie lipped up, give this place a go. We will definitely go again and recommend it to all our club friends . Gail thank you for your ad and looking after a great fishery , well done.
