  1. For me even a 45minute drive before or after work can be a bit much with my shifts. My prebaiting for years has been put the last of my bait before I leave at the end of the weekly trip. For that reason it is nearly all just boilies, unless I have saved a bit of spod mix. At the same time we do all want to catch, even more so if the lake has special fish. I love the lake I'm on, some big commons, and still some uncaught fish, I would dearly love to put one or more of them in the landing net.

  2. Just back from a couple of days, strange one really, looked real good for a fish slight drop in temps but nothing shocking, think i should of took the single bait approach really or perhaps maybe tried my hand at a zig. Wouldn't of thought three K of boilies and about the same in pellets over three rods in three days would be too much at anytime of year? On the plus side the hound is getting much better, left my carryall in the front room after unpacking, he was on it and ready to go, he sleeps in it when out.

    Back to pastures old

Well the new swim didn't look great there was still a few seeds in the margin, a couple of people blanking In the big part made me look elsewhere, I'm back on familier soil 😁 I couldn't resist,it just looked good today, I cast my second rod at a showing fish, I saw loads of signs and was getting surprised it hadn't happened, and then as cinderella had to leave the ball before she turned into a pumpkin, my middle rod tears off, I struggled into the crocs and couldn't find the headlight as quick as I wanted but I have started using leadclips this week, the lead discharged and the battle was an easy one, 23lb mirror that just seemed to do more or less what i wanted, I even thought it was a bream for a moment until I remembered it had pulled the line out the clip 😁 Don't add pellets the night before btw terrible idea 😁 so heavy it cracked my spomb off, luckily I got it back casting over it, also lucky I bought a spare kilo of baits so I can just pult those out 🍀 Going to refresh the rods soon after my first light cuppa and see if I can't nick another before the final whistle

    Can you get worse

Ink mucka I myself like most the others here I’m married kids etc fishing is a hobby I’ve done a 2 yr blank and realised that I was overthinking things and stressing because I wasn’t catching there was an old fella a few swims down that suffered a heart attack luckily an ambulance was going past near where we were he was saved but it made me realise that there’s enough stress in life we fish to enjoy Mother Nature and the surroundings we are in the peace an quiet Just chill remember life is short Don’t stress yourself it’s about being there

  5. I’ve been reflecting and I wanted to thank my carp.com friends for all support in my fishing journey so far. Ive come here on many occasions not understanding something and left with a wealth of information. You guys are one of the reasons that I became inspired to set up my own fishing tackle business. I’m so proud to say that hookedgear.co.uk is doing well and as a thank you for all your support I wanted to offer you guys a 15% discount code that isn’t anywhere else online - please use Tightlines15 at checkout for 15% off your orders! I honestly highly recommend our hooked gear stealth hooks. They have landed catfish and big carp already, they are super sharp and cheaper than the big brands charge, with free delivery always!

    Can you get worse

I wouldn't say you can get worse at angling, way too many variations to ever be sure of anything, what can happen is a loss of interest or getting stuck doing the same all the time, you can get away with that on commy waters with enough fish in, at any time of year. For me, my best fishing comes from April through to August for carp I struggle for what to do next after that, I think timing would be more critical than anything else from now till next spring, even that north easterly we had this week was cold.
