  1. Words from my mouth! I've done France many times, often after travelling well into the night. My list of priorities upon arrival: Erect bivvy. Install bedchair , sleeping bag and/or peachskin. Get onto bedchair. Sleep. Like a log. Several logs if necessary. Ian.

  2. Hope you've had a good sleep - did you put your bivvy up , or is their a lodge of some kind for the weary traveller to crash out in ? . When the guys on the forum describe arriving at their lake after dark , finding the fish , casting out baiting up , bivvy up and finally getting to eat when I would have been asleep for an hour , well hats off to them I would have cast 2 rods into trees and had a massive hissy fit ! . 😃

  3. are you casting long distance? If not I’d lower the weight of your lead to 1 oz maybe 1.5. Also use a smaller hook, size 6 maybe if your fishing for 5-10 lb fish.

    What bivvy?

Agree with all of the above, I've had mine at least 15 years and it's still as good as new. One thing, though. Whoever specified the dimensions of the Sti 2-man was an amoeba. No way in this world will two half-decent bedchairs fit in there! Ian.

Keep an eye out for the 2 man twin skin. I've had mine 5 years, no problems whatsoever! Absolute steal at £200 new. They've stopped making them now😭 more expensive ones don't compare for condensation control. No need for the winter skin in summer, keeps the mozzies out and you can still see the stars.

  6. A good tactic to use on lakes stocked with smaller carp is the method feeder fished with a short supple braid of about 3 inches and a piece of plastic buoyant corn.

  7. Well spotted good advice, I think your bait /hook combination is perhaps too big something seems to be stopping it going in far eniugh, I would maybe try 15mm with a size 6 and maybe with a longer rig of 7/8 inches and see what happens with that

    What bivvy?

The most important feature for me is the time it takes to put up and take down, I don't want to be messing about with one for ages, I love my cyprinus brolly system now, has a zip in front which I've never used yet and ive added a JRC multi fit mozzie mesh which fits well I might add and stops me getting bitten by those flying vampires whilst still having a good view of the lake Personally I would rather use a 1 man bivvy for my solo fishing as it's easier and quicker to put up and you don't get tempted to buy loads of other toot to fill the void as you haven't got much free space 😀
