Been doing a bit more research. Apparently quite a few of the bigger fished were moved to pastures new. But there are definitely some lumps still in there. Went there this morning before work and had a small one feeding on bread in the lillies. A few were crashing too and one made that sound that only a big carp can. Hopefully start fishing on Saturday night.2 points

There's a guy on Dragons Den tonight, trying to find investors for his carp bait company...… Might be interesting to see how he pitches himself, and what he can offer , that you can't do for yourself...…….. Shows the price hike imo, on some commercial baits... Enough to pay off investors and still make money..... Be interesting to hear what figures he spouts and what sort of reception he gets from the Dragons...…….1 point

i didnt watch the programme but currently use the bait. And i have to say, Whilst the bait is good (because i catch with it) a lot could be improved! I have brought the odd bag where 50% of the boilies have not been round which is a pain if your planning on fishing using a boilie stick. I have also contacted there customer service a few times but never had a reply! I keep using them because once or twice a year i notice shops do a sale and knock out the 5kg for £30 rather then £38 which is a bargin and im all up for that.1 point -
Best all round rods

I’ve got a set of 13ft Treb Lites myself; mightily impressive tools they are too. But since switching to the smaller of the Dinton waters in the last few weeks I’ve been using my 12ft TE’s simply because the shorter rods are easier to wield in what are typically more restrictive swims.1 point -

Honestly, more showing off the water than the idea of kayaking or canoeing it. There are far more wild and dangerous waters out there(including in this state), but there has been a few killed on this river. It's called the Tellico river, a very well-known mountain trout stream not that far from where I live, as the crow flys. Been there myself several times, beautiful. Thing is, the water in the video is high from heavy rain. Largely not anywhere as fast or rough under normal conditions.1 point

started by accident while ghosting thru Builth on the river Wye and just downstream of the town we hit a short set of rapids, end of day we were in the camper looking at maps for fast water. we ended up in Scotland up in the Grampians, have a look at the Grandtully rapids on the Tay or the Linn of Tummel on the river Tummel, guaranteed they more scary than that kiddies playground in the vid above1 point

haha!! no problems, me and my buddy used to do it in a canadian. in a kayak with a skirt on your basically sitting in a big air bubble that will float no matter what you do, the only two exceptions are holing it on a sharp rock or if you are thrown out during a big drop, a canadian is an open canoe and ships water easily, less stable so more prone to capsize but way more buzz1 point

Best all round rods

I have a set of 3.25 Torrix... which many consider one of the best all round rods. I have no doubt though since buying a set of 13 ft hi s 220 's these are out performing the torrix as an all round rod hands down . And the torrix have become second choice . I noticed Yonny is finding the same since buying his 13ft Harrison casting rods. I can fish the margin or 160 +, also great for fishing long zigs .1 point -
I've just "splashed the cash" and am back on the rods I've been promising myself since stupidly selling a set of them about 3 or 4 years ago. I regretted doing it at the time, but I needed the cash due to work issues.... I only fish 11' rods, (which limits my choices somewhat), but FreeSpirit, within the S range, offer the TS 2.75lb 11 footer. They are absolutely fantastic and I sold every other rod I had to help fund buying them. These, to me, are the "ultimate" 11 footers. Absolutely superb fish playing action, very light, minimal graphics, and can flick a lead out brilliantly. Caught my pb on one of these (37lb Common) so I certainly don't feel "undergunned" using them on waters that hold bigger fish. I don't consider myself a "tackle tart" but it's nice that everybody who has seen them has commented on how good they look and feel. "Best rod" is a little subjective, because you can only gauge it on ones that you have actually used. But to me, these are MY best rods. I just hope the wife never finds out how much I actually spent on them.....😲😲😲1 point

How come you got rid of your harrison's? They are in my opinion the best all round rod. I've got their chimeras and they can smack a lead a big distance and yet be a good action under the rod tip. I wouldn't buy any other rod apart from harrison.1 point

Tel drew a blank, maybe the dragons saw the video on the Urban site, with Terry and Jim? When explaining about good bait, Tel says that once his bait is in the carp’s “stomach” they feel good and know it’s good! 😂😂😂 Shouldn’t a bait expert know that carp don’t have stomachs? 🤣🤣1 point -
Im gonna be doing a little bit on a lake over the next couple of months that probably hasn't seen an angler for 4 years or so. It's in the middle of a new housing estate and is technically no fishing allowed. I've found a few spots where I'm hidden away and have seen around 10 carp so far , all around the 20lb Mark. Rumours of 40lb plus carp and some massive tench. Gonna be an adventure.1 point
