Now I have some thinking to do , as I believe I own the Sharpes Scottie you mention ( have to get my tape measure out ) . The thing is for speed at the end of a session I leave my rods , complete with pop up , tackled up and just take them apart and put them in a rod sleeve . I don't think a cane rod would appreciate this sort of abuse . I did meet Chris Ball once , and he mentioned that as waters were weedier these days he had moved from using a cane rod to a fibreglass Jack Hilton Carp 1 1/2 t/c . 🤔 Quote

framey Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 I think it depends on the waters fished to the type of angler on it syndicate, club or day ticket will all have a different breed of angler whether that be old or younger ones. as long as they do not interfere with me they can do what they want drone, boat knock yourself out.. elmoputney 1 Quote
Roughtor Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 Has anyone ever seen the beauty of a lezak Delag reel..they are art ,art work of the highest order in many ways ,too nice to fish with ... Be interesting to hear from bluelabel as he knows all about this stuff it makes other makes, high end stuff look not so good in some ways Quote
bluelabel Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 Got my name down for one of Leszek's reels, they are a thing of beauty. Sadly I doubt I shall ever own one, as he is in his 80's and has slowed down over the last few years... an utter gentleman and an artist... I have a trio of Mordex Merlin pins that have been modified by Leszek, they have been fitted with brass center bosses rather than the plastic ones that are prone to cracking... they look as if they were factory built... salokcinnodrog 1 Quote
Roughtor Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 Wow,they look lovely ,especially with the new centre bosses . Lezak is a member of my club ,I've yet to meet him ,his stories of Slapton Ley inspired me to spend the day on the beach and all the history that goes with it ...the Americans and requisition of the cottages ,. bluelabel Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 (edited) He's a lovely bloke, the covering letter and descriptions of the work he completed were very detailed and a joy to read, he dismantled each reel completely and rebuilt them to exacting tolerances so they run true and freely, they are my go to pin for carping... if you see him, tell him Aitch from TFF said Hello, and the Merlins are still cracking on...👍😎 Edited April 9 by bluelabel salokcinnodrog 1 Quote
