Now I have some thinking to do , as I believe I own the Sharpes Scottie you mention ( have to get my tape measure out ) .

The thing is for speed at the end of a session I leave my rods , complete with pop up , tackled up  and just take them apart and put them in a rod sleeve . I don't think a cane rod would appreciate this sort of abuse . 

I did meet Chris Ball once , and he mentioned that as waters were weedier these days he had moved from using a cane rod to a fibreglass Jack Hilton Carp 1 1/2 t/c .

I think it depends on the waters fished to the type of angler on it 

syndicate, club or day ticket will all have a different breed of angler whether that be old or younger ones.

as long as they do not interfere with me they can do what they want 

drone, boat knock yourself out..
