B B Posted February 25, 2021 Report Posted February 25, 2021 Iv just used up the last of my lead core can any one recommend a lead free leader brand Quote
elmoputney Posted February 25, 2021 Report Posted February 25, 2021 As above avid one is pretty good, I used it before and it spliced well I am using Gardner camflex at the moment though I really like it, ๐ Quote
elmoputney Posted February 25, 2021 Report Posted February 25, 2021 I have tried a couple of cheaper ones in the past they are usually not very good and splice like a pig, not worth scrimping on Quote

ouchthathurt Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 I found the avid and Gardner ones to be pretty good, the Nash unleaded leader is very thin and I found it fiddly to splice but itโs another option mate Carpmaster 1 Quote
Golden Paws Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 I've used Korda Safezone leaders for years and they have never let me down. Being fluorocarbon based, they are heavy and near invisible. I remember Rob Hughes writing that when he goes out diving to find a rig and see how it's presented, he looks for the leadcore or tubing and finds the rig at the end. I'm sure that Carp must have started to suss it by now! Carpmaster 1 Quote

This can also play a part in your choice the reason I chose contour is because Iโm in heavy weed ,boulders , roots around the islands thereโs mussels in the weed too Quote

B B Posted February 26, 2021 Author Report Posted February 26, 2021 Thanks all ๐ got a mate popping over with Fox submerge and heโs got the gardener one, il have a play with them. Going to use foot long leaders with solid bags. Loop to loop quick change style, give them a proper go only dappled a little with them in the past. Carpmaster 1 Quote

Supple and sinks like a brick and doesnt stand out at all on darker/weedier bottoms. Over gravel its good too. Wouldnt be using it over sand though. Quote
