boliecrazy69 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I really struggle tying knots onto link loops/swivels with fluorocarbon what knott do you find best and why? anyone crimp this? Quote
dalthegooner Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) The palomar knot. A simple, extremely strong knot for tying onto a swivel. I don't use link loops, I tie a loop in the line using the figure of eight loop knot, although searching the net for a decent animation of the figure of eight loop knot, I found the non slip loop on the Kryston website and think I'll be using that instead in future I do use crimps (Or krimps to be more precise ) but only if I tie a chod rig so that I can get them small and uniform. ianain Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Try either of these loop tyers Bit of a fiddle, but works a treat These are difficult to learn, but once you have, it's fairly easy Quote
boliecrazy69 Posted March 13, 2015 Author Report Posted March 13, 2015 Yeah i use the palomar but struggle with the stiffness, never really use flurocarbon but want to introduce it more into my fishing this year. I've got a few made up with krimps but a bit scared to use. Quote
hutch Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 4 turn bloodknot works well for attaching fluoro to swivels quick change links etc ... useful link http://kryston.com/articles/ultimate-knots/ Quote
stickmix Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 ........ non slip loop on the Kryston website and think I'll be using that instead in future..... Me too, thank you. dalthegooner and commonly 2 Quote
hawkman Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) I use a 4 turn half blood knot. Care is required when bedding down to avoid kinking. I used to use the tucked version but found that there was no difference in knot strength and it was a bit more difficult bed down smoothly. I use IQ 2 in 20 lb and Seaguar Ace hard in 35 lb. rosstheangler Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Palomar or a 5 turn grinner is what most flouro manufacturers recommend. Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I found the Grinner knot didn't work well with fluorocarbons, blood knot is best for me, and Dave Chilton of Kryston has said this self same thing, as per the above link Quote
commonly Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) I have big fingers & struggle tying some knots. With fluro, dependant on diameter, Thick 2 to 3 turn blood knot, Thin overhand loop (great for use with quick links especially at night when you're a bit weary!! As above, take care when bedding down, always use pulling/ chod tool to check everything is as it should be, Test to destruction!!! Edited March 20, 2015 by commonly Quote
still scratching Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 krimps all the way for me theres no knot that comes close to this. any knot on flouro drops the breaking strain instantly. its what they use for big game fishing so is more than up to the job for carping uk and abroad, so much easier than tying knots aswell. spud88 Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 The only time i use f.carbon is for combi hooklinks, i tie figure of eight loop knot to attach to a quick change swivvel. Blood knots and palomars are also the ones to use. Quote
