  1. Couldn't agree more , I believe the demise in anglers has been happening for years now and I can't see it hitting the numbers of yesteryear , just a slow decline.
  2. Love seeing my son's reaction to nature and sunsets while fishing , he's only six but loves it already .
  3. just use some old line or wool etc to back the spools out .

    Bailiffs

A good bailiff doesn't just ban IMO , sometimes a little word is all that is needed , diplomacy .

    Bailiffs

Correct although you need good bailiffs to keep any trouble makers around you under control

    Bailiffs

Wow calm down mate , is there really any need for that ??? None of what I have said is argumentative please don't derail the thread .

    Bailiffs

I agree to a point , but I do wonder how 'diplomatic ' an 18 year old can be when they may have to offer advice and wonder how their advice on the rules will be viewed by some members . Maybe the club has been very lucky and just so happen to have found two bailiffs that have just turned 18 that meet their criteria time will tell I suppose.

    Bailiffs

Just to update this is a multi water club not a day ticket water , so I wouldn't expect daily visits as it voluntary . This along with a few other things are making me question next years choice of club .
  9. What in others opinions makes a good bailiff . I'm asking this as my club has just appointed two new bailiffs , now I don't know these people so maybe jumping the gun and possible I my self should be more open minded. The two new bailiffs one young lady and one young lad have both just turned 18 . Any way what in your opinion make a good bailiff
  10. If your fishing smallish waters and casting 50-60 meters then even if strip 150 meters off each spool , that will still allow you to get two years out of a new 1000 meter spool.
  11. Fish are cold blooded so will slow down as the temperature drops , yes river fish may be more active then lake fish but they will not be as active in the colder weather . This could of course work to your advantage as they may be holding in a smaller area of the river rather than roaming around as much . Good luck in what you decide but have a think about fish behavior in various water temperatures .
  12. I think some of it will depend on the river , the old winter leagues on rivers would be very very hard going with lots of blanks . I know they weren't fishing for carp but I would still be wary of putting to much feed in . Saying that I have caught Tench from a river with snow on the ground .
  13. As Yonny says pellets , plus no prep needed . On a personal point of view I'm not sure I would start a prebaiting campaign on the lead up to colder weather coming when the fish will slow right down in both movement and feeding.
  14. You'll have to change your name , can't be 'old school' and own a bait boat .
  15. If fox have a list of dealers on their website then start at the top and work your way down ringing or emailing them , you may find one of the smaller lesser know dealers may still have one in stock.

    Silly Rules

Sorry no drones is not a silly rule , I go to relax not to have some plonker flying a drone all over the place same as bait boats on most waters .
  17. Just because the ingredients are human grade doesn't mean they are safe for fish especially not knowing the quantities used , the food industry use some dangerous chemicals in processed foods that the food agency allow us to eat .
  18. mac donalds is food grade -- say no more
  19. Any more details , i.e weight tactics you used etc . P.s understand you keeping the exact location secret .
  20. Trigger always looked after his broom
  21. I don't buy the there's more anglers on the banks these days . Trout/fly fishing is almost non existent , sea fishing doesn't get the numbers it used to Beaches used to be lined up with anglers when the cod where in just doesn't happen any more . The match scene has died , very few general anglers about . Take a walk down your local river or canal at the weekend and you'll be lucky to see anyone fishing , now think back to the 70's , 80's . Even the lakes used to have more anglers , a small lake I fish used to have about 18 swims and would get busy now its mainly carp it's down to 6 swims due to needing more room. Some swims used to have 3 or 4 different general anglers in one day i.e the morning angler , the afternoon and then the evening now that swim may look busier today but the same angler is in there for 48hrs . We fall ourselves that carp angling is big but I don't think its ever hit the numbers that the match and general scene did in the 70's , 80's . Around here most club memberships are down . Must get on ' need to earn money '
  22. I respect your views Yonny but you can't compare modern carp fishing with the general all round fishing from the 70's , 80's even the 90's and say its not in decline . Fly fishing , sea fishing and coarse fishing are and have been in decline ask any tackle dealer or manufacturer and if answering honestly they will all say the same . Busy day ticket waters are probably more to do with a change in the way anglers are fishing , some would view the day ticket waters as the type the modern instant carper goes to . The types of water that you want to fish are still busy with waiting lists ,but these aren't fished by the majority .
