2023 social- who's up for it??

Thanks gents. It would appear that there is only a handful of us interested, so a private venue will be fine. Embryo looks good, but may well be booked up. Merrington looks OK too. I think if we had 8 of us, its £80-90 each. Mid to late September? October? I'm totally flexible atm. But, would like to get this tied up and paid for asap. -
Not sure how the emoji got in there??? #Buzzbomb

Great news Ian!! Just need to fly buzz😇bomb over & we are officially having a carp. Com social🤣 I'd like to think Nick might join us??
-
Yes, that's right mate. I love fishing venues that feel a bit special. That place has its own story and I think it would be a fitting venue, if we can get the numbers. That said, I'd be open to sensible suggestions. My thinking is early autumn. September/October??

Can you pizza or curry delivered? Fingers crossed for you buddy
-
Nice one Ian. I will do my best and probably ask you for some guidance. I'm sure one of the carp society guys messaged last time. He was able to get us on Horseshoe
-
Thank you Buzz. We've got 100 guaranteed millionaire lottery tonight. If I win I will get you over and nice new shirt 🤓

Nice one mate! Appreciate it. So far that's 3, then. Anyone else up for a social??
-
Thanks Elmo, it was an end to his decline. He had a very good life, as did most baby boomers. [censored]ed it all up the wall though😏 As they say, it's the only thing that you can be certain, will happen to everyone! The trouble in 2019 was not many people were up for it and tying up dates. That's why I thought I'd try earlier in the year. All help gratefully received mate, I'm hoping someone with a bit more authority than me would get involved? I'm just an average member, (excuse the pun!)

That sounds like you'd fit right in. Everyone on here would be welcome mate. So you're up for it then?

So, I lost my dad today. Knew it was coming, old buggar kept going for a few more months than was expected. Heavy drinker and smoker. Liver packed up, blah, blah! I didn't think it would bother me, but when I look back, the good times were few and far between. He took me fishing for the first time and I will always remember that, fondly. Not that he was an angler. I got into it and he was wasn't, always too busy at work to go, etc. So, I suppose I have to be grateful for the introduction to one of my few passions in life. Life is for living and none of us know how long we have??? I recently dug out a post from 2019 when life was kind of normal, Carp.Com social@ horseshoe lake. It would be good to have an event to look forward to, so I ask the regulars, are you up for a social? Enjoy gents, best wishes to you and your families

Full moon too! I really wanted to, but the Mrs is training this weekend, so no can do. Went out last week, blanked. The wind was making 1ft waves across the reservoir, thought the bivvy was going to take off a few times. Maybe next time

£7 per K is what I happily pay for Mainline, delivered. 😊 A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to get A2 for £3 a K!!

I tend to use 2 types of boilies, sometimes different sizes too. Although I have avoided 10mm lately, as the bream seem to like them on my current venue As you say hook baits are a question of trial and error

I'm a funnel mesh user. Simple and quick to do. I'd use a bag if I was on a new water, unsure of the bottom, saw fish show and didn't want to spook them too much. Or trying to get really tight to an overhang. I did use stringers when I first started, but the mesh came out and I didn't see the need to risk stabbing my hand with a needle.

Welcome to the carp side! I would imagine most people would have most of the top brands in their tackle box. Korda/fox bits are fairly easy to use, reasonable quality & price. Bank tackle do good swivels and bits. I prefer Gardner hooks but always sharpen them for that extra sharp point. Hook link, I love rigmarole fluro or hydrolink. All the other bits are a mix of brands. Happy hunting fella 🤞

I don't know mate. At least that's useful. I get Wickes kitchens? Will writing services & ladies showing a bit of cleavage?? I'm not too sure what AI is trying to tell me?? 🥸
-
No plans for Carp.com socials then? Last thread there was talk of the possibility of going to horseshoe, or similar worthy venue. With all the revenue from ads I'm sure you guys could set something up?? 😉
-
I think it's a shame we still don't Now that would be a good social 🤓 As above, a few mates, good food, a few beers, nice location/water and a few fish for the photo library

They (Tories) can't name a single benefit from brexit. Despite it being rich as smugg's job for the past 2 years??? OH! Sorry, apart from now they have lifted the cap on their pals bonuses🤮

I know what you mean. Stick with your go to set up, don't change anything. It's been 3 years since I caught a decent fish. I've tried all sorts of different methods on a huge water. This year I went to a small venue with the missus and kids, ended up fishing a stiff fluro rig that smashed my original syndicate, due to nce clean bottom. It worked, so I used that rig at my syndicate reservoir. 1st carp out, is a new pb 35lbs. Followed by a nice little common, 22lb, I wish I could get a 30+ common! But always seem to get mirrors?? Hard earned, but regret not using my best rig from the start. Got the bug again, but family life is very restrictive at the moment. Social meeting there tomorrow evening. I live in hope to get bankside in the next few weeks, this is my favourite time of year to be out🥺

Best of luck mate, let us know how you get on👍
