  1. The stance on invasive species seems to always change once the said species gets a good foot hold . Look at zander i was catching them 25 years ago & the EA policy was to knock them on the head , it was against the law to return them . Now there just another species we have in our waterways. Should think in a decade or two big cat fishing in all our waterways will be a common pursuit for specimen anglers . There's been the odd big cat caught out of rivers by me going back years now , quite often by barbel anglers .
  2. Sounds good to me ... fairly flexible with dates in September at the moment so happy to go along with what suits the majority. How many are looking at coming at the moment? & are we up for more than two nights say 3 ?
  3. Off to France in a week ..... could do with the weather turning some what 🙈
  4. Looks good for a social.... get it booked before the dates go i say 👍 The rules are a little strange but nothing that would hinder the way I like to fish . Happy to PayPal the person doing the booking before hand , just let me know 😎
  5. Evening carpio The main consideration when looking at stiffer rods is the ability to be able to compress it . All the power comes from the butt section & being able to compress it . I purchased some free spirits H'ive 220's years back , got on fine with them at first , but the more I used them I realised how hard I was having to work to compress them & that then coincided with fishing less & when i would come to use them it was just hard work . I ended up selling them & buying the softer version . It didn't cost me any distance i was still hitting 160 y but it was a dam site easier getting there! . I would look at the 3.5 unless your a beast of a caster.
  6. Having arranged socials before on here a few times in the past .... its certainly proving difficult for you commonly. When I first joined this forum if you didn't get your name down you missed out ! & were members on a back up list for any drop outs ! Can honestly say I have made mates for life off this forum & still fish with them now every year on socials . Obviously I don't visit that much these days but thats only down to a lack of fishing time the past few years . All you regular posters should jump at this chance to meet up & have a fish... Good chance your make new friends for life . I'm certainly up for it
  7. Not fished Horseshoe since the last social there .... not the most social of venues due to the size , so would probably recommend doing more than 2 nights . Give us a chance for a good Chinwag & a hopefully a bite . Always been pretty weedy & I can't see why that would of changed , so bare that in mind also .... finding presentable spots can take time , which would also point to a longer session ? Been quite a bit of change since I was last fishing there .... in regards to snag removal which has changed certain areas, so will be good to go back for a session 👍
  8. Just checked & September looks good for me... would rather do more than 2 nights though if possible, but happy either way .👍
  9. Unfortunately Tim .... I Never got planning on my Land , like you mentioned that goes back a decade of trying. This lake is a friends project only down the road from me . We will hopefully make a start in the spring 👍 Other plans.... off to France in March now for a spot of monster hunting . 🎣🎣😎
  10. Thanks mate.... just looking at the date of my original post & it will be 3 years in January ! .where does the time go 🙈
  11. Well 2 years on & 16 thousand pounds 👀 in planning fees finally got the go ahead . To late in the year now so will have to be spring next year for a start date on the works .
  12. Bit of Tetris & you should be fine with the custom for 3 anglers . Two of us go in My lwb connect with a little bit of room spare . Your make it work 😉
  13. Main thing to remember through out the summer & especially in these current temps , is to limit the time any capture is out the water, or best of all do all the work in the water if possible. Should think DO levels are getting on the low side ... which will make the fishing tough going & be the cause of many a blank .
  14. CT1 won't let you down.... not used it on bait boats myself as I don't have one , but its a good product & will work for your requirements.
  15. Cracking fish guys ..... congrats on the pb elmo 😎
  16. I've not had that trouble mate , the ones I use are hard enough to get on , they never move . But if they've solved a problem for you then its all good . 👍
  17. I did chuckle at the release of the " one more cast " long distance hook beads 🙈😂
  18. Did a little write up on the previous page mate 👍
  19. Didn't notice any reflection at night mate .
