  1. Ready for next sessions batch! Joke, my friend has a chicken farm
  2. Now this is why I love this forum! I've had exactly the same questions swirling around. I'm in suffolk and my regular lake was going crazy literally everyone catching then it went dead... I take it personally as it was when I managed to go that the owner told me nothing out for a couple of days!! I've noticed loads on insects suddenly appearing, especially daddy's.. I know it's the right time for them but wondered if Ol Mr carpy has been feeding up on larve and bugs and more difficult to catch?
  3. Fraserking - Thank you, I'm good at using super glue and tape, oh and being tight! Catching fish is a different story all together!
  4. Cyborx you are a beautiful man, will pm you shortly thank you, critique away my man! Back to your original question, of what are people's thoughts on the float, I am amazed I don't see more used as I am sure it is the line that spooks prospective surface carp and this idea solves it perfectly and exactly as you've said I don't think, in my small experiance, the fish are too worried about a controller. Also I thought they were a relatively new product from gardener, but my brother has had one from gardener for years! The one I've made, does cast very well and I had no tangles whatsoever Pm on its way (Oh and I'm now off to bed so probably won't reply until tomorrow)
  5. The last thing I need is my boy talking to his teachers about whiskey... I got pulled over today, (no mot!! Argh I am a numpty, newish car and thought it was valid) followed me home, wrote me a ticket, £100 fine!! The copper was pretty good about it all though. Then my wife pulls up, she knows the copper his daughter is in my son's class!! Excellent, playground gossip will be rife!!! Anyway.... My version, tip of an old fly rod, champagne cork, small inline lead, cut to size around bottom of tube and lots of black electrical tape! Think I'll try some of the bakers stuff, will be loosing the chance soon though, not much warmth left!! Cyborx - well done with your session! I've never caught a carp on a fly rod, I bet it's fun!!!
  6. I like it, very neat!! Looks like it would work well
  7. NM as soon as winter kicks in and my lake is empty of anglers I plan to be gizzing every session
  8. Aka fixed giz rig!!! I've seen the gardener things working well recently... Was quite comical, two guys on standard controller set up, one with a beach caster and one on a suspender float.. the suspender was the only one that caught, 3 to the suspender none to the others!

Thank you charlieg for making my search easier, funny as I tend to avoid korda because of all the hype!

Interesting charlieg, I can't seem to find a clear enough picture to compare the two, if this is the case I find it interesting that the write ups on guru and korda, say they are designed by different fellows.... I'm going to go to a shop and compare the qm1's and the Krank that is already out. In my searching I've found an owner c3 hook which I like the look of, have also found a n eBay seller offering 20 of these for £1.29! To good to be true??? probably !

Ok so I think I've found my answer... This is copied from a post in 2009 on a different forum by a chap called David Burr... "I've used them, not quite like the one in the picture but the full-on circle hook with a similar design to the long-liners original. In theory they are great but in practice not so. Long-liners kill all they catch, nuff said. I experimented on the river and had four bites hooking four fish, two chub and two barbel. The chub were easy to unhook and were none the worse but the barbel were a different story. Having thick, rubbery lips the hook set deep and was extremely difficult to extract. To remove the hook you have to turn it back through the arc that it has traveled in, but with such a thick lip there was little room to turn the hook and it took much longer than any other hook I have used. I immediately abandoned any further experiments and would NOT use them on carp"
