    Most places I know have a spot at 7 1/2 or 11 1/2 wraps for some reason I will always start at looking around that distance

    Not sure on a plastic Shark tooth style clip I just hook it Under on My round clip reels I go round twice

    You could place some pole elastic in the clip first and that will lessen the shock and stop it damaging the line john Roberts iirc used to sell an item you could clip to the line and put that into the line clip rather than the line
