    zig rigs

Another one for double strength, although I've just bought some of nashs zig-flo to have a look at

    zig rigs

I've caught on zigs in very coloured water mate, still a great tactic
  4. Didn't think of tying foam on, I was tying a piece of shot on with pva tape but it didn't hold well, string would obviously be better, will have to remember to take it next time lol, cheers
  5. I said this a very long time ago, as I refused to use leadcore, I was practicing the " Naked chod" as it seems to be known, whist most hadnt heard of it . I do not use a top bead, I have never found a reason to use one and I use the lightest leads possible and on small lakes I often use 1/2oz leads. I have been told by "experts"that it wont work!, well I must ONLY fish for suicidle carp. Do you do anything to stop the rig travelling up the line on your cast then beens as though no top bead? Or do you just let it go? Which could mean your rigs 30 - 40ft back from the lead by the time it hits the water
  6. Any idea what section that thread was in that Dan put up with that loop on? Good that was, forgot about it
  7. Yeh I do, there just called chod beads the ones I have. Cheers
  8. I used the avid naked chod beads a couple of weeks ago, before all this snow, and they work a treat with a pop up, well balanced and don't slip on the line when wet, worth a look at I've got them mate, I think. The ones where the rig sits in the bead rather than having two? You still need weight though don't you? I like to fish slack lines and always picture it lifting up where the rig is unless I fish it tight
  9. I like what you've done with the shot on the swivel, never thought of that will give it a try. That's my only concern with the chod (I haven't much experience using them) that when your using the likes of avid stuff like highlites and tic tacs the buoyancy in them is unbelievable so I worry it needs to much weight?
  10. Each to their own but you seem to be over complicating thing's way too much, how do you ever decide what to put on your rod lol? For me it's pretty simple, choose one rig that your confident in and that cover's you for most of your fishing, bar zigs and surface fishing. You can usually adapt the one rig for different need's, like length of it or length of hair to suit feeding situation or lake bottom. As for how long to keep them i chuck mine as soon as the hook's on it's way out. I don't put much thought into the moisture of the knot etc but iv'e never had a problem so don't see the need. If you have that many different types of rigs that you cant remember what's what then you have too many rig's tied up i think
  11. I doubt anyone will on here, it's like swearing. The two most mentioned on here are my favourite's too, Passion for Angling and Catching the Impossible. Recently on the box iv'e enjoyed Jeremy Wade's serie's, plus i do watch some of the Robson Green show's, at the end of the day it's sometime's the only thing fishing related on telly so it's going to attract you a little.
  12. Neither most of the time, but i do use some coated braid's once in a while
  13. Congratulation's mate, you look a very happy man, and rightly so!
  14. I get 15lb bristle filament through a size 8 hook, obviously easier with a bigger hook but it can be done

Don't put a bottom bait on Make sure you use rig foam, a decent hooklink material, try and get yourself a good idea of what depth the fish are likely to be at, and most of all, make sure you stay confident.
  16. If my memory serve's me correctly it tell's you on the packet what size hook's it fit's on ( been a while since i bought it so not sure )
  17. I use fox coretex or mantis and highly rate them both, although there's a few i haven't used like Nash missing link so couldn't say what's better. If your buying from a company such as these your never going to be far away mate
  18. Maybe you should have typed that then instead of favourite "rig"
  19. Rig's won't change, bait certainly will. Soon be the time for it to start going in largely too.
  20. Yeh will do
  21. Or just rub back and forth on you leg or something for a bit of friction and it will straighten out.
