  1. Ive just had a look and at £70 a pop I quite like the look of the diawa emblem xt (black series) I use my old trusty diawa emcast evos and absolutely love them so for reels my go to would be diawa, having said that I have bought a sonik Vader spod reel and although I haven't used it yet feels balanced on my spod rod and feels like a good solid reel, I'm gonna give it a thrashing tomorrow night so will let you know more then , at the end of the day I think it's better to look at reels in a shop so you can get a feel for them plus they may do you a deal for 3
  2. I do tend to research everything I buy nowadays and if it isn't up to scratch I wouldnt buy it and there are items that I agree you will buy twice if they are no good, My worst piece of tackle at present is my old Nash viper in usage terms it isn't that old but the poles have started weakening and a storm pole just snapped last time I was out it was about £200 when I got it all those years ago so not cheap but it's on my list of things to replace dissapointed with it really and wouldn't buy another and actually tend to avoid Nash stuff now as a consequence
  3. I quite like some ngt stuff tbh I have a pop up cradle which is excellent , the quiver which is great for a light rod bag , a carry all which is as good as any Ive owned before, a net which seems ok for the price some of the other stuff looks good the cooking stuff especially, the PVA mesh works as well I've used it in fairly cold water and it melts very good value tbh I think for rods and reels etc it's always worth spending a little more , I noticed some of them are sold as medium modulus blanks , I work testing carbon fibre and you want a high modulus rod as that means it will compress more when you need it For hooks and other terminal tackle I have been using bank tackle lately very impressed with there hooks tbh always sharp and well priced too and some good patterns to try I have bought some sonik bits lately spod reel which seems solid and should be reliable ,Vader X 10ft rods look nice still not tested them the sk Tek chair which is sturdy and fairly light and also the SKS bite alarms I have played with those and I think I will like using them All in all things like bags etc won't catch you fish so will spending loads on them really help your angling ....nope it's money I would rather spend on bait and stuff that will help
  4. I'd be tempted by the match tbh , may get you thinking and working in a slightly different way for your own angling, and it may teach you something different
  5. It's a tough situation nick sounds like you did all you could in the moment and that is all you can do really, right or wrong you still saved his life and that's what's important
  6. I just looked at the site and there seems a lot of choice and there seems a lot of knowledge behind them maybe just try other flavours/colours, they look good for a change in may try some in the future
  7. Well done Nick ,good job you were there and credit and praise is due , hope he makes a full and speedy recovery, makes you realise how easily things can go wrong
  8. This one but they also do a jumbo one which may be even higher https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carp-Cradle-Unhooking-Fishing-Protective/dp/B011CZJXW2
  9. There is an NGT one that will go 2 foot high apparently according to an Amazon question and it has a kneeling pad so may be more comfortable getting up and down
  10. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F362615579290 This one has adjustable legs if that still isn't high enough maybe get some longer legs made up for it, there are others btw but I quite like sonik stuff
  11. Hi luv4carp Welcome to the forum To me a table sounds a bit dodgy as if it's not perfecty level you may get sliding issues, and it's a big drop for the carp if it falls Have you looked at some of the bigger cradles (with frames) they may be better for you , if not would be worth asking a company to have one made to suit you maybe an extra tall one, with a taller frame or maybe have some 3/8th threads put on the frame so you could use adjustable banksticks to increase the height that way Hope this helps and all the best Elmo
  12. Gave it a good work out tonight handled marker work ,weed clearance ,and spombing and did it all quite nicely too, I guess the main limitation will be needing to cast further with 35lb, but I got it as far I will need so all in all quite happy so far
  13. Reckon i could pull a car out the lake with this 35lb braid
  14. I decided on 35lb for my 3 in 1 multifunction spod/marker/weed rake rod, should be tough enough for all disciplines 😀 4th function accidental tree surgery 🙄
  15. I haven't got any mates really so I have free licence to do what I want
  16. It's probably the least stealthy colour you can find, I think it must be a sickness but I really wanted yellow braid 🙄
  17. I think I've found some spider braid, from memory this was recommended to me years ago and I think the braid I've had on my marker reel since might try this funky yellow one
  18. Did you ever use this Finchey? I've been wondering the same and I need to change my braid as it's old
  19. I wonder if anyone's opinions will have changed on this lake since 2010, Welcome to the forum Wacko
  20. Something from bivvy tramps that stuck with me If you know it's being prebaited it's poaching , if you don't know it's good angling Your so called mate has poached your good angling and hard work, does he know what bait you use ? They are the risks of prebaiting though but knowing you have been is a low blow in my opinion, hope you go and catch more than him
  21. Can you not lift the back wheels off the ground in that situation and go for it ? I never really had an issue with one wheel though as long as it was loaded ok it would behave fairly well
  22. Tramadol isn't a very nice drug to take long term tbh, I know someone who is a lot younger than me who got addicted to it after a back issue ended up buying it off the web after his doctor refused to prescribe it and gave himself stomach ulcers,
  23. Well hopefully your luck will change and you get amongst some nice fish, that will help make it right good luck
  24. I used to have a MK2 carp porter in the good old days, couldn't fault it really never gave me any problems and I thought it handled well and never tipped for me I think the extra wheels would make it more stable , still really wishing I hadn't sold it tbh would be nice to still have it
  25. I'm not surprised really feel for you, it's not like just popping down the road, I hope you will be getting compensated and I hope it works out ok for you this week
