  1. they could at least provide Fast and Free postage, 🙄
  2. Thanks ginger It certainly seems to work for you, 👍 I will decide in the morning how best to approach It but I've just just added some of the basemix to the pellets to give them a lovely coating of floaty goodness which will hopefully draw them in from far and wide to investigate, one more night shift I can't wait till the morning
  3. For some reason I am yet to be converted to zigs, I can see the idea and get why it works but it just seems a bit weird to me, maybe one day I shall try them but sticks may be a good idea as a starting point I have some basemix left that could be added to the mix and a glug for some lovely clouding, but I just wonder if I could get the bait working for me from the start and hopefully draw them in and trick them into having a munch, but I do agree fishing for more than one could be a bad idea, my pellets are fast breakdown types though so would be more for attraction than feeding them, maybe that and some crumb and small bits of boilie could get them going for a bit, I will just have to wait and see if I can find some fish and hope the area is free if not then I may try ringing the dinner bell
  4. I feel the same I think each time I go I am getting closer to one, I've changed bait this time though, and my gut feel is they will be happier with this one and actually I feel a little more confident in it, we shall see I guess I think it's good to be brave sometimes though, and the weather looks set to improve Friday (not by much though ) so hopefully that will help
  5. I haven't got any or seen them, but diawa make lovely reels I've been very happy with my emcast evos which look similar but without the baitrunner facility these are now old but still perform like the first day I got them, they make everything feel smooth, casting ,retrieving I think they were even a joy to play fish on ( can't really remember that though ) Unless diawa quality has taken a serious nosedive I would think they would be a good reel, Just been putting some fresh line on
  6. Cheers Nick I suppose they are still only fish at the end of the day and can be caught if tempted you just gotta tempt them It's probably too early to be worrying yet only been out 4 times
  7. This is a map of the lake I've seen fish caught from the drove road side , the snags and also the shallow cut, so that may suggest they aren't feeding in the deep part as much and that has been fished a lot when I've been there, but not sure when I haven't been there I think I would only go for it in the main part of the lake drove road side the rest would be better with some carefully placed traps, we shall see I guess it's never a good idea to plan an attack too much before you get there ,you never know where will be available
  8. Depends on area but 4ft to 11ft there have been some fish holed up in snags which I will check on a walk first but they have been caught from all over though and a few in the shallower area as it warms up from the sun quicker I think, and they do seem to be moving about though as they have been angled for all winter,
  9. It's quite a well stocked pressured water btw fenland fisheries vermuyden lake 200 fish 4 acre lake I mean this does also depend on location there are spots where this may be really silly, but it depends what swims are available when Friday comes so it's something to consider and this may mean the bait is working for me while I get an hour's or twos sleep,
  10. Hi guys I am going for a chuck n sleep after my night shift on Friday I am wondering if it's too early to introduce a bed of bait ? Just thinking about 10 or so spods of pellet corn and boilie bits on one spot to start, I am only going for the day is this a brave approach or dumb ?
  11. I've been looking into rigs this week 360,Ronnie rigs seem new and I've also never used a chod rig , that's led me to wonder if my old rigs will still cut the mustard ? I've started thinking I may need to have a play and fine tune my end game somewhat I shall be looking into this a little more I think,
  12. Sometimes I do wonder if it's worth it,but I do quite enjoy it, I think once I have a mix I am happy with I may get some made up for me though it is quite time consuming,
  13. I have been working on my bait making area in the garage, I made the bench using some old MDF and a broken desk from work
  14. My thought of the day, I wish I had some bait already made, I could've snuck in a few hours. I did make a bit today though so popped some in the freezer for next time
  15. Freezers are like busses 2 came along at once , I had made an offer on a fridge freezer the other day another buyer bailed so it's mine now, I did have to cancel the other one though , but a bait freezer , bait/beer fridge has more appeal
  16. Congrats guys Elwood is such a strong name love it 😎👍
  17. Good idea might make catapulting or spodding a challenge though
  18. Glad I said it was tough to get a freezer, just done a deal for one £30 delivered boom Well done being a dad yonny, it is fun isn't it I've got 2 girls 3+4 , I am only just managing to nick a few hours fishing here and there, I have been looking into pink fishing rods and trying to get them interested A thought for all the youngsters make the most of your angling time while you can, you won't get that chance again later on
  19. I am trying to buy a bait freezer off there at the moment, you have to be blooming quick when you want one of those
  20. Do people still think for themselves is my thought for the day ? I am selling a punch bag on gumtree at the moment, one of the questions I received was "can I attach this to a tree ?" not the most annoying question but, it got me thinking some people really expect others to do all there homework for them these days, I know when I buy something I have a plan for It and I will research how to make that happen' so for instance If I wanted a punch bag that attached to a tree I would know exactly the right way to do it, Google would probably tell me all i needed to know in 5 minutes, but all too often I will spend my time doing this research only for them to not even respond when I do, either that or the thought of having to spend 5 minutes on google is enough to put most people off, so my point it do people think for themselves or do we expect others to do all our thinking for us these days ??? this could be related back to angling quite easily btw, being new back I am spending quite a lot of time researching/planning at the moment, and for me that is always the fun part, Its the part you can take to work with you, anywhere you have a spare few minutes, for me learning Is the key to success," I may not be successful, but I am learning to be more successful"
  21. Just had another great chat with Simon of quality baits, he really is very helpful, gives good advice on his products and nothing is too much trouble , I've got some basemix to try on the way and I think I know what direction to head for with my long term plans well worth a contact if you want to get into baitmaking without the price tag
  22. I think it's just an age thing nick my tolerance for people has lowered a lot and I tend to speak my mind a lot more these days
  23. I think I just need to catch one on this lake to remind myself I can do it then I'm off to harder pastures for a real challenge, I've settled on St Ives now, will be joining for April I think so With this in mind I've decided to try a different QB basemix and I am going to to go Coco loco, in the hope it's more instant, but I shall also be switching squid for plum on the other mix and going one on each rod hopefully they will both work
