  1. I wonder if anyone's opinions will have changed on this lake since 2010, Welcome to the forum Wacko
  2. Monster particles have got some good deals on show specials they call them I've just ordered 20kg of particles for £26.49 delivered that I didn't really need 😬 good deal though time for some serious pre baiting to clear some freezer space
  3. Something from bivvy tramps that stuck with me If you know it's being prebaited it's poaching , if you don't know it's good angling Your so called mate has poached your good angling and hard work, does he know what bait you use ? They are the risks of prebaiting though but knowing you have been is a low blow in my opinion, hope you go and catch more than him
  4. Well more losses today I managed to lose my new spomb 😥 Was a strange one tbh fairly normal cast only just hit the clip I thought it was bang on reeled in and nothing on the end, I guess my braid had a weak spot and snapped still not a good session for losing stuff, marker float and feature finding lead, new bobbin , spomb and marbles, I did spend the day fishing duel zigs though so it was an experience if nothing else, What I have learned it's a fairly shallow , majorly silty lake with mucho detritus with weed and pads on the rise, going to be a bit of a headscratcher I think,
  5. Funnily enough I am still quite relaxed, it's a nice place to be even I am fishing like a Noddy
  6. Oh and i remembered the bacon forgot the frying pan ☹️
  7. ABeen a bit of a disaster so far here in the Terry hearn swim, managed to lose my marker float in a battle with an overhanging tree, I didn't get here till 6:30pm cast my rod to the far bank felt snagged so I bought it back then forgot to clip it up and lost my rig to that tree, so I've just dumped them both out with a bag of pellets all night, it's quite weedy and silty so I haven't managed to find any good soots, gonna try zigging today I think once I have warmed up enough Oh and the first time I lifted my rod from my new cygnet bobbins the chain snapped and the dumpy head got dumped in the drink not very impressed, I now need a castable weed rake btw
  8. Thanks finchey I am now really excited My particles are like 2 blocks of ice still thiugh, I think 2 days it required next time for defrostation, I've just hit it with a hammer smaller blocks should help
  9. Well tonight I shall be mainly sorting my tackle out, defrosting bait and getting ready for my first session at St ives, I am quite excited and doing an overnighter first one of those since what feels like forever cant wait
  10. Can you not lift the back wheels off the ground in that situation and go for it ? I never really had an issue with one wheel though as long as it was loaded ok it would behave fairly well
  11. Tramadol isn't a very nice drug to take long term tbh, I know someone who is a lot younger than me who got addicted to it after a back issue ended up buying it off the web after his doctor refused to prescribe it and gave himself stomach ulcers,
  12. Well hopefully your luck will change and you get amongst some nice fish, that will help make it right good luck
  13. I used to have a MK2 carp porter in the good old days, couldn't fault it really never gave me any problems and I thought it handled well and never tipped for me I think the extra wheels would make it more stable , still really wishing I hadn't sold it tbh would be nice to still have it
  14. I'm not surprised really feel for you, it's not like just popping down the road, I hope you will be getting compensated and I hope it works out ok for you this week
  15. No way that's awful have you got a back up plan sorted,
  16. Cracking stuff it's certainly seems to have been a good week for you on balance, glad you have had some good fortune on your side as well and your hard work has paid off , will certainly be a week you remember excellent results 👍
  17. Thanks for the review on those might have to start with a spomb and see how i get on with it, I like using pellets so dot spod might not be the one for me, I do quite like the way the air bomb looks to work but its probably not as simple to use as the spomb, I am only using the one spod/marker rod so clipping up spomb to the same as the marker should be perfectly fine for getting bait out on the spot Cheers
  18. I use 30lb straight through with no bother i dont tend to cast that far though, the loop knot will be progression though will be handy for a quick change between spod and marker, I quite like the look of the TFG air bomb or the dot spod by Nash the dot spod looks to retrieve better than the spomb haven't tried them yet I still have a Gardner pocket rocket spod 😬
  19. its not a rowing boat is it ? you would go round in circles with your knackered arm sorry to hear about your back though that's no fun while you are away, hope it gets better soon so you can land another whacker, I get a similar thing quite often, sometimes it goes quite quickly, If you know any good yoga type stretches they can really help, otherwise more beer can do wonders for the pain especially with the tramalols 😵
  20. This could get bait out far enough possibly
  21. I've found a local feed place that does it for £15.50 I've asked for a complete price list to see what other goodies they may have
  22. I was looking at vitalin the other day I always thought it made a good cheap groundbait mix that worked, seems a little more pricey nowadays thiugh I think the method is one I wouldn't mind trying again I used to get on well with it and it seems like something that's probably overlooked these days,
  23. I think it would depend on if you are comfortable getting 2 rods on the spot, personally I have started thinking I may use this approach having one big baited banquet spot with 2 rods on, but I guess it depends on how easy it is to achieve and whether you will be confident landing them, and whether you can get your rig presented well ? That's probably only a call you can make though but I will be interested in hearing what you decide ?
  24. What you need is my top secret method Find em, feed em, then eff it right up
  25. If you need to get some particles out a bit further you could always use groundbait and catapult the balls out that should help , but tbh the margins can be great for setting lovely little traps in the summer, and you can get usually Bait far enough with a catapult i use mine more than my spod tbh good luck
