  1. You're confusing me lol. The hook length will be as long as it needs to be to put the zig at the depth I believe the carp are. 2-3 inch is not a zig for me. I'd use a hinge stiff rig for that.
  2. I'll put them at the depth I think the carp are, regardless of the weed/substrate buddy.
  3. Neither. I pierce them and whack them on the hair.
  4. I've caught on little pop ups and various colour foam but I've found if you want the older I.e. bigger fish, black foam is the one.
  5. Heli safe to dump rotary leads. Lead clips are better though. Mcf Dumper is the one imo.
  6. Mega tight with zigs bud. Especially in weed. I have fished zigs on rotary set ups but imo lead clips are much more effective mate.
  7. I'd be very careful with zigs with weed like that about. No point hooking them if you can't land them buddy.
  8. Not sure what you mean by this buddy. If you have to drop the lead then go for the MCF Dumper lead clips, they're great for zigs. When you cast, whack an old pop up in pva mesh on the hook, it'll add weight to the hookbait and prevent tangles. Also, don't use any tubing/leader etc, go naked straight to the lead clip, prevent tangles even further. Use the longest anti tangle sleeves you can find too. Fox do some good'n's. As for the fox/korda systems, do you mean the adjustable systems? I avoid them unless I really need them, they're not very friendly to use. If your zigs are 12 ft + you need them however. @nigewoodcock on here posted a great tip for these - when you hit the clip, don't feel the lead down, just let it fall naturally. Not sure how this works but it did work for me. Tangles stopped. Great tip.
  9. Try Dal Henwood (Dalectronics on FB) bud. If it can be done, he can do it.
  10. I agree @harpz_31. Not only do big baits not prevent smaller fish, they'll give you less of a chance of hooking the older/wiser (hence bigger in most cases) fish too imo.
  11. Imo that's the fault of the consumer, thick as you-know-what some of these people.
  12. I think we're jumping to conclusions. He's just selling a load of gear. I don't think that gives us the right to start slating him.
  13. That give you 3.5 fish per acre which is not easy. On my water I'm looking at closer to 5.5 fish per acre so still pretty tricky. It's easy enough to go on long blank runs, believe me I've been there. If you're confident in the rig you caught on, use that imo mate. I would never choose a second rig for the sake of it. I would only ever choose a 2nd rig to suit a specific substrate, spot, or situation. Adapt to the angling situation, and what you can see with your own eyes. First thing I would do in your situation is adapt to the weed - long chods or variations thereof smashed straight into it on one rod. Still very effective if done right!
  14. I think it is bud. Not aware of any club running it. Strictly no fishing still as far as I'm aware. You can go and walk round it any time, it's a reserve so birders are there frequently.
  15. Not necessarily. I don't mind an element of imbalance in my rigs, imo it can make them hard to eject. Therefore I'll often fish 11 mm and 13 mm on size 4's. I've been know to use size 2's (in other patterns) for 16 mm which is as big as I go with hookbaits. The smallest hooks I use are 6's.
  16. The round one has a recess you place the hook in so it sharpens from two planes buddy. I prefer a flat one tbh, so you can work on 3 planes individual.
  17. I like the 4s buddy. Big fan of big hooks. Nah, bent hook rules refer to hooks that are modified (bent) by hand.
  18. So they say........ It's just the old Owner C3 pattern that's been ripped off imo.
  19. Just recently I read of someone doing that when they got caught guesting and it worked! Can't remember where I read it now but it's a great idea.
  20. Birthdays, weddings, funerals..... friends and family...... always getting in the bloomin' way!!! So inconsiderate aint they?!
  21. That's a tricky one as you'll soon lose the cover as winter approaches. Make hay while the sun shines bud!!!
  22. That's what i use, although the pens aren't that effective imo. Specialist Sharpened Hooks do an Anti Rust Compound which is much better.
