It works as a remote but it's a bit of a faff. Make sure you set everything up prior to getting the kipper out of the water (so sort your settings and take some dummy shots holding a bag or something). Get the shots perfect then get mr carp out for the real shots. It can be set to take multiple shots but it works like a self-timer rather than an intervalometer i.e. it cannot adapt to the given shot. It'll only use the settings you've already put in place with the trail shots. I use it solely to get the shots off my camera through WiFi. I do think there are better options out there for you. There is a Canon Bluetooth remote that could can be held or placed under the knee and will focus/adapt to each shot as you click away. Might be worth a Google.

If it's new I'd return it mate. An intervalometer makes life so much easier.

@Its-grim-up-north, I've just checked your specs and you have no port which is a real bummer. You have no centre flash pin or jack port so an intervalometer cannot be used. Your only option is to use a wireless remote.

They'll work all year mate. Don't use too many. They're best bulked out with something imo (hemp is a good option). I tend to use them with boilie to avoid nuisance species. I don't do anything fancy when it comes to rigs. Keep it simple.

The priority is finding them mate. If you can figure out where they like to be you're half way there. You'll likely be feeding tench and bream with corn/hemp imo. Big boilies and nuts would be my first port of call for the carp. It wont stop the nuisance species but it should slow them down and allow the carp to get a look in.

The prices are ridic at the mo aint they?!! I've just taken my SS3's off the rods in favour of something more suited to distance and I'm almost considering selling them. I have like 8 or 9 spare spools and all together they're worth ~2k which is ridiculous. The tournies are essentially the same thing so 400 notes is a proper bargain. The chap selling them is in your neck of the woods too mate.

This👆 They use a supple hook link that give the hookbait movement and allows it to be sucked in👍 I think that even in the perfect situation (heavy weed) the chod rig has LOTS of flaws. But it's the only possible to way to fish that type of area effectively. To use it outside of that situation just accentuates most of those flaws imo. There is no logical reason to use it apart from chucking at showing fish when you're not 100% on the substrate.

Expand mate. In what situation do you think it would be tricky to deal with? It's basically just a hinge without the boom that allows the hookbait to be taken when mr carp sucks (as we all know they feed by sucking/blowing). They'd have to be suicidal to get hooked on it imo😅

It's defo warmer off the bottom. Water becomes more dense the colder it is so the coldest water sinks to the deck. It's not comfortable for the fish which is why when they do feed on the deck in winter the feeding periods tend to be very, very short.

There'll not be that much interest in feeding anywhere tbh mate. Your best bet is to have a hookbait where the carp are located which at this time of year is midwater for 95% of the time. They will feed on the deck but those feeding periods will be very, very short. From now until mid May is the best time for zigs in my experience mate.

This time of year temps are more important than food so for me it has to be a very bright, very colourful pop up on the deck, or a bit of black foam mid water. There's nothing wrong with super-charging you pop ups so you have the attraction to match the colour though.

I have heard of them fished off the lead but for me that accentuates all of the rigs many flaws. Over anything but the cleanest/hardest substrates you need a boom i.e the stiff hinge rig. I cannot think of a single advantage to fishing a chod off a clip/inline. I can think of loads of disadvantages though mate.

No you're not mate. You're speaking sense. A heli is a leader/lead set-up. A chod is a rig. A chod has to be fished on a heli set-up to make use of its limited advantages (those being presentation over substrates that cannot otherwise be fished). But any rig can be used on a heli.
