  1. how did he know they had lifted the fish in the net ????? was it damaged some how ?
  2. the only shelf life boilie I ever used was quest baits pineapple crush those things were rock hard and felt a bit waxy but the fish loved them, never really looked at break down times tho
  3. There are so many things that can foul up presentation, even a fish turning over the top of your rig and churning the debris up and mask the hook point But I do time when i cast as not to do it during "bite times"
  4. Me personally I'm in favour of regular recasting (every 3 or 4 hours) especially if i think I've got fish in my swim Call it paranoia but I worry about my rig not resetting proper after being moved and woken ive up in the morning to a baitless hook more than a few times. I started doing this on a very hard water where 20 fish a year is major result and did see an increase in runs I'd rather risk spooking a few fish on a recast than sitting on rods that have no chance of getting a run at all
  5. I think hes referring to the bait taking on the smell of the silt try soaking your baits in lake water before putting it out that way its already absorbed as much water as it can and wont suck up the silty smell
  6. I used to use maize years ago and found absolutely no difference in catch rate when I swapped to plastic corn (I still caught sod all) plus its easier to critically balance plastic corn
  7. I always use a shock leader with 10lb mainline to aid casting distance
  8. I usually take mine out in January cos like you I don't do winter fishing and replace with new Duracell batteries when I start again in march
  9. yea id agree my pb for both common and mirror is exactly the same and the water im fishing atm 3 out of 4 of the biggest fish are commons yet mirrors out number them 3 to 1
  10. but mirror carp tend to be larger than commons so there must be a difference in feeding habits or metabolic rates or food preference
  11. mirror carp were bred from common carp for ease of descaling for the table so the only difference from commons and mirrors should be scales how would a mirror carp know its a mirror carp ?
  12. was looking at willesley myself but from what ive heard its way over priced have you looked at swarkstone syndicate, £450 according to the web site but it looks like its not been updated in a while or probably right on the end of your traveling distance is ajs fisheries who have a few syndicates out towards grantham or goosedale fisheries is where im on atm, £275 but they had an outbreak of khv about 4/5 years ago. about 200 fish in a 16 acre lake or manor floods in Ilkeston, not sure on the price as I haven't fished it in about 5 years but had a good head of 20s and about 6 30s in a 6 acre water, very weedy tho
  13. I use the aukey 2000mah any1 got 1 on the ridge monkey power banks ? they seem ridiculously expensive or do you get something extra for the £140 price tag ?
  14. quite a bit of a gap between Thursday and Monday mate, id try and get back down at least on Saturday night to try and shorten the period between bait going in the whole point of pre baiting is to build confident regular feeding I pre bait over 3/4 days starting with about half a kilo of rehydrated boilies with boosted flavours to try and attract the fish in quick then over the next few nights just use regular boilies but increase the quantity every night to cope with more fish feeding for longer as confidence grows defo get on the little fished swims I did this on on a swim id not seen anyone fish in 6 months and had a 21 fish haul in 2 nights (more than quite a few had all season) and over 40 fish over 3 weekends safe to say its one of the busiest pegs on the syndicate this year
  15. I used to use the fox mk2 swingers and cant understand why I changed (probably didn't look cool enough) like stevo says you can change the weight to suit any style of fishing and they're a lot more stable in windy conditions
  16. Yea I've noticed during and after a good rain they move about n feed abit more I always put it down to the rain adding oxygen to the water
  17. weather patterns have changed so much in the last few years were that magic period of September into October has extended well into November for me not sure if its the same for you southerners let hope global warming keeps the winters mild
  18. im with yonny, autumn should be called awesome with the nights drawing in it makes it easier to get down after dark and do plenty of prebaiting and with the fish getting their heads down to put on some winter weight prebaiting builds confident feeding in the bigger fish
  19. Yea I've always thought the same about bait boats and casting/baiting up Think I'll save my £200 and put it towards some new rods Spoz if i ever got to the point where I couldn't be bothered to get the marker rod or have a walk round for a few hours it's time to flog up and by some golf clubs
  20. bit of a controversial one as ive seen people online moan about using one is cheating but I think the same about bait boats has anyone got one or used one and if so what do they think because at £200 there not cheap was thinking of getting one to map my lake and maybe find the winter shoals
  21. scale pattern is different belting fish tho mate
  22. Yea I only watched the first 1 so maybe I should watch the rest before condemning it but first impressions and all that
  23. did I watch the same thing because every1 ive spoken to said it was garbage no matter what it was supposed to be all I saw was 2 washed up comedians trying a desperate grasp at fame and falling on their arses the friendship seemed forced, the laughs seem forced, and I know it was about teaching bob how to chill out and comparing chest scars but I could think of a few things better for relaxing than going fishing with some1 who doesn't seem to know much about fishing
  24. like you say each to their own I prefer to learn something from watching a fishing show like john Wilsons go fishing or korda
