Suggestions on a new Bivvy
harpz_31 replied to Chippie81's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
im 6'4" and 18 stone and used to use it when I took my nephew fishing and got 2 bed chairs in easily but it was about 7 years ago maybe my memory isn't as good as I think it is or maybe my definition of easily isn't the same as yours but got all my gear and 2 bed chairs and room in between the 2 for getting in and out -
Suggestions on a new Bivvy

I had a jrc sti 2 man and it was awesome loads of room inside for 2 bedchairs and lasted me years -
don't just limit your self to the carp brands (fox, esp, wychwood) have a look at the fly fishing brands
-
Chair came today and my initial thoughts are very positive The seat is wide and deep and the back is quite high so when it's fully reclined your head is well supported and can see me taking just this chair to sleep on on quick overnighters The padding is thick and comfy but there's no padding on the arms If I was being picky I'd say the arms are a little high and there's no lumbar support but sat it in for an hour and wasn't uncomfortable in any way Build quality seems ok but only time will tell The missus sat in it and got the thumbs up which is a first for any fishing tackle I've brought

same as everything in life mate if you don't like it let your feet do the talking and go else where it wont take long before they either buck up or it gets taken over by someone who isn't a complete tool just like you have here let as many people know through forums and word of mouth

I've ordered my prestige fatboy chair and I'll let u know what it's like when I get it later in the week
-
Same as blue Use pod on hard ground and bars all other times
-
like carpmachine (good job I checked my spelling i nearly called you crapmachine) said an avon rod would be great for your needs I would recommend trying a few out as the actions from rod to rod can be extremely different
-
Yea looked at the nash big daddy and prestige fatboy but am going with the latter because it's got really good reviews from people bigger than your average carp angler and it's 50 quid cheaper
-
don't you mean when my fat ass made a bid for freedom a few months ago when I was putting a fish back only hoping my chair fairs better than the seat of my pants
-
I've not got 1 yet but I've heard good things about the prestige fat boy chair I like you am 17 stone and 6' 4" and will be getting 1 very soon

Bedchair for a bad back
harpz_31 replied to sneakywafter's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I suffer from bad back and random bouts of syatica so I got a true flat wide boy bed and tightened the elastic right up to stop sagging and got myself a proper pillow and my back problems and shoulder pain have completely gone -
Rod for under £130 & reel under £100????
harpz_31 replied to B7G_Mi77O7's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Agree with the wychwood riots but I'd go for sonik or chub outcast rods -
I was worried about the switch but its really easy mate and I've not struck yet and lines flew of the spool cos I've forgot to tighten the clutch up
-
I've got some wychwood riots on my spod and marker rods and they seem fine but never really used them on my main rods
-
I switched from shimano gte baitrunners to daiwa entoh big pits and so glad I did and wouldn't go back Was abit worried about not having a baitrunner feature but front drag is loads better imho Quick drag is standard on some pit reels but wasn't on my entoh's but found you don't really need it What reels you looking at getting ?
-
I bought mine simply for the fact it makes me chuckle when I tell people I've got a 50mm diameter buttring
-
No after a lot of research I went for soniks as they were getting really good write ups so went for the sk4 xtr 3.5tc with 50mm buttring and they kick bottom, very very pleased with them
-
I've got a zed bed 4, it weighs a ton and is bulky but its very comy Luckily I can park at the back of any swim on my syndicate but I'd still rather barrow it about and get a decent nights kip than have something lighter but isn't big enough to fit me properly
-
Outcasts all day long, had the 2.5tc and only upgraded when I moved onto a bigger water and I still use the spod and marker rods
-
yea had a tfg sleepingbag as well which was absolute pants but still better than trakker stuff
-
I had some tfg alarms years ago and they were garbage and was in the bin after 6 months and replaced with some cheap fox alarms which were great and only swapped them cos im going deaf and needed a receiver so got some delkims
-
ive got the chub outcast spod and markers rods and the spod rod is 5tc not sure about the marker rod but ive had um for years n they still going strong was like you and was gonna change um when I got some new rods 6 years ago but thought if it aint broke don't fix it n stuck with um
-
got my self a avid benchmark x sleeping bag a few months ago for just £116 (standard size bag is about £106) and so far its kept me toasty warm in temps down to zero plus the inside zips out for summer use. well worth the cash if you plan on fishing all year round
-
would have thought a stiffer rod would be better for marker work as it wouldn't soak up as many vibtations
