  1. :) tut tut petey i'm surprised at you
  2. Obvious i know , but we all have to be aware of what happens when any sort of running lead set up is plugged in silt . I imagine more so with inlines . Then again it might be different with a longer hooklength in a solid pva bag .
  3. Morning fellas . Havent we all wondered what our baited rigs REALLY look like on the lakebed ? After watching the underwater carp fishing videos that uncle Danny has been flogging and we've seen the carp "getting away with it" , how many sessions on the bank have been spoilt by that nagging doubt at the back of your mind ? Are you fishing properly ? Is it tangled ? Has that pva melted properly ? Murder isnt it ? Well fellas im delighted to say that that probkem has been solved forever , and it can be for you all as well . All you need is some petrol in your car . As some of you know , i've moved house recently . There are a lot of mostly minuses about this but one good thing has come out of it ..... We just won £500k on the lotto .(and i cant even post a smilie lol). She wants a swimming pool believe it or not . At least now i'll have somewhere to test my rigs . And you are all welcome to come and use my new life sized rig tank , life is definitley looking up
  4. Yeah i think your probably right , you cant beat a true pendant running lead , large bore run ring , on naked mainline too . Always registers whatever direction the fish decides to go . Yet another example of what probably sacrifices 25-30% indication for the sake of convenience . Every option has its time and place though no doubt. Its just a case of knowing it
  5. Thats why i like the lead clips made by solar and fox . Semi fixed lead set up until you remove a tiny peg and it becomes a totally free running lead . And vice versa of course . Dont like lead clips , never have since i saw a video of a carp using the lead to throw the hook , and always always use a free running pendant lead set up . But , occaisonally i use one of the above mentioned clips ...just in case lol. Quite like the look of the running inline set up that joe morgan has on you tube . Bite indication appears to be great but im not so sure how it would act on the lakebed though which is why i am wary of using it. Blanks , always nice to come up with something like you have there but is milky right ?
  6. I've been known to use most of the above at some time or another ( apart from nige's idea, im not that innovative lol).
  7. I've recently posted on another thread about club waters si , and yes they dont like carpers . There is a lake nr me that is steeped in history . Dick walker & his mates used to fish there in the late 40's & 50's . In fact walker caught a 38lber there the week before he got the 44lber from redmire . Its said that the carp there today are direct descendants of those old warriors . Its supposedly little known but it would explain why you can join the club on a general coarse ticket but have to be a member for 2 years before you can even get on the waiting list for a carp ticket. Theres a day ticket complex 5 mins drive away that has lotsa bigguns and will do a 40 this year i expect ... Just an example of essex clubs ...
  8. Hello matey , you have more chance of being struck by lightening than getting a syndi ticket in essex . Where you are situated i'd be looking at the lea valley/ herts day tickets ie carthagena or holyfield , amwell lakes etc . Or billericay angling club has loadsa waters with largish carp but not sure if you can night fish em . I think some you can . Theres also cuton lakes pn the a12 at chelmsford . For somewhere more quiet & unknown to many there is Dawnsvale nr braintree . Its mostly a runs water with lotsa doubles but there IS a 30+ ghostie lurking in there somewhere . She did have a bounty on it . Free fishing for a year to the captor . Good luck matey.
  9. Really ? I have difficulties understanding rig mechanics to be honest but i've never had problems with curve shanks ( except the blunt korda ones ) . Imo longshanks are iffyer . Also , find myself agreeing with nick re the run ring , and gardner do some shorter , more narrow anti tangle sleeves which would be a bit neater . In any case , theo's pva bag will sort out any tangling issues as will a good quality pva nugget on the hookshank
  10. I SO wish i could get into a club . It must be so much more pleasant than having to fish day tickets..... 7-8 year waiting lists to get into local clubs that stock carp . And even then you have to hold a general coarse membership before you can put your name on the waiting list . I'm not kidding , there are syndicate waters in essex with shorter waiting lists . Which is fine if like fishing days only...
  11. Must be lovely living down there cut , only fished dorset the one week i had on the stour a few years ago . Im assuming the stour & avon are carpless ? Otherwise thats where i'd be for sure so im assuming you've done 'em to death ? Cant help you with venues really mate but if i knew , i'd fill you in ...honest (thats just the kind of fella i am
  12. Mmmmm....so, come on then theo , whats this wonderful tangle free wonder rig that you're prepared to give away ? After all , i'd hate to think that all that fretting and spending etc was for nothing ? I mean , youre obviously dying to divulge lol
  13. Walthamstow ressies mate . Big big carp , not easy and days only i believe apart from one weekend a month when it becomes a circus .
  14. I think it might be like walthamstow mm . One weekend a month ...and that weekend is crazy !
  15. Hello mate and welcome to the forum . The obvious thing to say but if i was in dorset i'd be living on the banks of the stour
  16. Why not ? Ive caught using a bottom bait on a choddy . Adam penning once wrote about it i believe .
  17. How long does Credence Corn take to biodegrade? This depends on conditions; Credence Corn is broken down to nothing by bacteria and light. Therefore it is dependent on the conditions and water temperature. In a glass of sterile water and kept in the dark it will take a long time to break down. In a silted pond it will take a much shorter time –usually less time than any pop up or shelf life boilie. Gives you a pretty good idea mate The kryston doppelganger looks like it leaks off food signals for considerably longer than the japanese stuff . Just depends on whether you can be bothered to shape it yourself . How longs it been on the market because its new to me ?
  18. Looks a nice place to fish si , especially if you like a bit of tench dabbling Go all out for the big tench and one of the bigger carp will probably show up . I must say si , you seem to be really lucky in your part of the country in that there are lots of lovely looking fisheries .
  19. Specsavers... 2 for 1... I know how you can be banned for breathing the wrong way on here so I am careful what I type now now petey
  20. Hello lads , i dont often post in this section as i always thought i knew all my local fisheries etc . However whilst net browsing i came across priory angling club which has 4 lakes in aveley road , upminster rm14. I've emailed them enquiring about membership but just wondered whether anybody knew anything anout the club or lakes etc ? Thanks in advance men
  21. Definately worth a look . Bet it aint cheap but would make me feel better in that it is biodegradable .
  22. Pete there are some artifical baits on the market that are porous mate . I think its avid that do artifical pop ups that certainly do the job and im sure there are others . I dont think plastic is to be taken literally and most of these artifical baits on the market these days do take on flavours to a degree .
  23. Hello mate . At last a new thread Plastic baits ? Tbh i've only ever used 'em to tip off a boilie as a visual thing but i have no doubt that they work and indeed take on all sorts of flavours . Its something i will be considering this year should i need to go down the particle route ie fake corn or maize . I use fake worms and bloodworm sometimes if i am fishing a bait directly to a hook just like i would use a small section of elastic band to stop a worm wriggling off ...a kind of bait stop if you like ... The only worry i have is that in the event of a break off , the fake bait is fishing forever and wont break down or rot like a foodbait would. My conscience would be eased because i never ever use leaders tubing or leadcore .... That is another thread though. Glugged plastic baits ? Yeah why not !
  24. Always liked shaun harrison . One of the less up himself celebrity carpers .
