  5. I know the feeling mate i got drug pushing junkies living one side and 300 corpses living on the other
  6. No mate not really , the 2 adults , the ones in the first pics , will make one hell of a racket if they have just laid an egg or they smell a fox but apart from that they are pretty quiet . What you need is a cockeral mate . We had 8 of em until they started practising cock-a-doodle-dooing , then they went off to that great farmyard in the sky courtesy of manor park's resident albert pierrepoint wannabe Its illegal to keep a cockeral in a residential area i believe but 8 of 'em , can you imagine it :)
  7. Lovely to see it when somebody has a session like that , well done young man
  8. Hello UJ welcome back into the fold . You've had a lot of bad luck by the sounds of it ( how can a "mate" do something like THAT ) but it also sounds like your back on track thanks to a real friend albeit dearly departed. Good luck to you mate , onwards & upwards eh ?
  9. Its gets worse ....the other night she come home with these ffs
  10. Hello again matey , again smuft has talked a lot of sense . I use running leads myself and imo is the ideal set up especially when you are starting out . There are some good threads about lead set ups on here with pics , have a gander . Try and attach the lead to the line with a run ring as in the pics , and if you make the swivel a quick-change type it makes it easier to change hooklengths quickly. I tend to favor leads of 2.5 ozs or more . Also , just in case because you didnt mention it , if you do use a pop up , make sure you have a split shot or a little piece of rig putty about an inch or 2 behind the hook otherwise your pop up will be 8 inches off the lakebed and look strange when your freebies around it will be on the deck , sticking out and maybe suspicious to a carp ? A little pva stick or mesh bag on the hooklength will prevent the possibility of a tangle on the cast. Again , have a read up on some of the stickies in the rig tying section . Good luck and welcome to this wonderful forum. Its full of nutters
  11. Good to hear you had a lively day , i'd like to see the piccies .
  12. Re john roberts terminal tackle . Not only is it not fashionable its usually cheap as a result . And , imo , often the best for the job at hand . My tackle box has plenty of it
  13. Introducing the latest additions to Grays Zoo ..... 6 golden pheasant chicks and 3 quail chicks all 2 days old . Rescued from a hellhole in northampton , tracey drove up there to get em last night . Oh and one of the quail has been named Nigel :)
  14. I dont think k use the term "safe" in the sense that we understand it tbh although some people , usually the young and inexperienced fall for it. Maybe im just losing it in my old age . What i really need is somebody to explain to me , in words of not many syllables, how a helicopter rig that drops the lead is safe ? In the event of a break AFTER the lead ejection , HOW is the carp supposed to get rid of the leader ?
  15. Went down the shed this afternoon to take a pic of my usual lead set up but soon realised i had taken my rods down at the end of my last session and since it was my idea for the thread , thought i'd better knock this up quickly .. Its a bit of a mix n match tbh , used what i could lay my hands on quickly . This is mono ( where normally it would be fluorocarbon) with a suffix stiff silt braided hooklink . Swivel remoed from the lead which is attached to the run ring with an avid qwik link . The other compnents are gardner but if i was using a supple braid there would be an esp rig sleeve covering the quick change swivel .
  16. Theres a great sticky in this section on safe lead set ups and there is also a couple of good threads , both current and in the former hot topic sections too with pics of members' lead set ups , components and sometimes their reasons for using them. What with quite a few newish members getting involved recently as well i thought the subject worthy of a thread of its own , similar to bez's recent thread "which rig are you currently using " or something like that So , i'm inviting everyone to post pics of their current lead set ups . Lets see what you got boys .... I'll post mine this evening when small child is not clambering all over me :)
  17. Very nice Dal .To be fair to richard though ( and nick , nice bit of name dropping mate ) he used to be a regular poster on here at one time and always struck me as a straight up down to earth fella who did his best to help people out . Pretty much what we all try to do too . In fact it was quite a while before i actually caught on that he was THE richard gardner :) Wonder why he doesnt post any more ? Or moorsey for that matter ? Busy people i expect ....
  18. Exactly mate . Though i feel this may be a few years preceding it
  19. If your using yer fone , take pic with yer fone and download it either to your gallery and then to the thread .or , if using tapatalk its easy to take the pic and post it . If your on pc you'll have to go on a site such as photobucket and follow the instructions ....
  20. Dunno how its tied but its a sea fishing rig that has a built in chemical light , like the sort of thing that float fishermen use to night fish. The idea is that the fish cone to investigate the light and take the bait out of curiosity . Cant see it with carp though . More liable to spook em i would have thought .
  21. It well known that im not a great animal lover but im growing quite attached to this shower of reprobates :
