  1. The general rule is the pound rating of the line should be able to land 4 times its weight so 8lb should be able to manage a 32lb fish. I use a 15lb syfix synergy mainline and 15lb Korda IQ hooklink. Its all down to personal choice.
  2. I fished 7 hours south of Calais last year starting on about 30th March and it was mostly warm sunny days, it rained for a couple of days with cold frosty nights. I woke up cold every night but I was only using a 3 season sleeping bag. It could be any weather though, just prepare for the worst.
  3. I never use it as I always have a big PVA bag on the end of my rig.
  4. Here's a couple of pictures of Hardwick Lake
  5. They were affected by the flooding and some of the fish died. One of the lakes was closed for months and has only recently opened. Some of the fish also ended up in different ponds as they could escape when the levels were high. I fished Hardwick Lake in March and blanked. I have a couple of photos of Hardwick Lake i'll post them later when I'm on my home PC. The crowds there put me off going back anytime soon almost all the pegs were taken and there were bivvys spread out every few metres on all the lakes apart from Brasenose 2 which is the pasties lake.
  6. You are joking, right? nope i have pics to prov it the biggest fish out ov the big lake todate is 39lb 6 i will post some pics ov the fish soon When will we get to see this 8lb Roach? When hell freezes over?
  7. I always do blood knots and blob them, I can never get any of the other knots to bed down properly. I haven't had a knot fail on me yet catching carp to low 30's. I think a well tied blood knot will be better than a badly tied grinner or palomar knot IMO. I also had to look up the meaning of subterfuge, thats a new word for me
  8. I've got the same rig wallet, great bit of kit I did have 20 something rigs tied but i'm slowly using them up and I haven't tied any for a few months. I've got to tie a some more before my next session. I'll probably make about 10 to last me a couple of sessions.
  9. I'll probably fish the same type rigs i've been using all summer. Size 8 hook, 12lb Korda IQ with a bit of tubing on the hook to make sure the hair is where I want it.
  10. Five of us went in April in a long wheel based transit with a cabin for a week. We filled it to the roof and we didn't take much food and bait as that was supplied at the lake. The cabin takes up about 1/3 of the space in the back.
  11. And thats where i close the door and leave the thread behind me. PMSL
  12. I use the 20lb korda hybrid and have never had any problems with it. I had no idea the knots had to be steamed, I've always attached it to a swivel using a blood knot and have always just wet the knot with saliva before tightening the knot. The hybrid has never snapped for me. I've never caught any monsters using it, the biggest is about 10-12lb so I don't know if a really big carp would snap it.
  13. A few weeks ago my mother was throwing out a box of breakfast cereal as no one would eat it, i don't recall which it was but it was something like rice crispies. This got me thinking, "I'm sure the carp would eat it,its a shame to waste it" has anyone ever blended breakfast cereal to use in groundbait? If its a sugary cereal would this be bad for the carp? Cheers Jonesy
  14. i use these 4 types as well depending on where i'm fishing
  15. I use Korda Hybrid and have not had any problems with it
