  1. A couple of threads here on free lining http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36913&highlight=free+lining http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=31528&highlight=free+lining
  2. Funnily enough you could be wrong. I probably am
  3. I need to learn some more knots. The blood knot is the only one I can get to bed down nicely and my thinking is a well tied blood knot has got to be better than a badly tied grinner or palomar knot
  4. Why is that Krs? I use the bloodknot for attaching the mainline or end of rigs to swivels. I always blob the end with a lighter just in case.
  5. I would have suggested use a better camera but you're already on the case Maybe try filming it while you are on the bank for that more authentic fishing look Another thing you could do is to take close up pictures of the rig components needed to make the rig and just put them in with descriptions before you show the filming part. If you use the 'zoom in' effect on the pictures it can slowly zoom in on them so you can see them more clearly.
  6. I fish with my lines fairly slack and still have a flying backlead on for good measure There's not much weed in my current water though.
  7. Here's some threads on free lining that may be useful. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36913&highlight=free+lining http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36272&highlight=free+lining http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=31528&highlight=free+lining http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=11099&highlight=free+lining
  8. Nice tip to help reduce carbon emissions I saw Matt Hayes give this tip on a fishing program before. I do this to my mainline to straighten it out if its coiling.
  9. I tie a loop and put the bait on as I find it better to tie rigs with the bait already on so I can see the gap between the bait and the hook. Then I slide the piece of tubing down onto the hooklength then put the hook through the tubing making sure not to cut into the hooklength. The gap can then be adjusted between the hook and bait then its ready for the knotless knot.
  10. Here's a couple http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22479&highlight=tubing+mainline http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=16893&highlight=thread+tubing
  11. I would recommend Korda IQ, hasn't let me down yet, I've used both 12 and 15lb.
  12. Of course you can - have a bead and swivel under the float and tie a weak bottom link and bomb to it. i can't see much point in abandoning leads at a £1 a chuck 'Franks Leads' work out at about 66p with postage.
  13. Looking around i have noticed that you can get the korda IQ hooklink stuff extra soft or just normal . Which one should i use? i don't really understand the different version thing, would the extra soft break easier? I use the normal IQ, I haven't tried the extra soft hooklink yet.
  14. The general rule is the pound rating of the line should be able to land 4 times its weight so 8lb should be able to manage a 32lb fish. I use a 15lb syfix synergy mainline and 15lb Korda IQ hooklink. Its all down to personal choice.
  15. I never use it as I always have a big PVA bag on the end of my rig.
  16. I always do blood knots and blob them, I can never get any of the other knots to bed down properly. I haven't had a knot fail on me yet catching carp to low 30's. I think a well tied blood knot will be better than a badly tied grinner or palomar knot IMO. I also had to look up the meaning of subterfuge, thats a new word for me
  17. I've got the same rig wallet, great bit of kit I did have 20 something rigs tied but i'm slowly using them up and I haven't tied any for a few months. I've got to tie a some more before my next session. I'll probably make about 10 to last me a couple of sessions.
  18. I'll probably fish the same type rigs i've been using all summer. Size 8 hook, 12lb Korda IQ with a bit of tubing on the hook to make sure the hair is where I want it.
  19. And thats where i close the door and leave the thread behind me. PMSL
  20. I use the 20lb korda hybrid and have never had any problems with it. I had no idea the knots had to be steamed, I've always attached it to a swivel using a blood knot and have always just wet the knot with saliva before tightening the knot. The hybrid has never snapped for me. I've never caught any monsters using it, the biggest is about 10-12lb so I don't know if a really big carp would snap it.
  21. A few weeks ago my mother was throwing out a box of breakfast cereal as no one would eat it, i don't recall which it was but it was something like rice crispies. This got me thinking, "I'm sure the carp would eat it,its a shame to waste it" has anyone ever blended breakfast cereal to use in groundbait? If its a sugary cereal would this be bad for the carp? Cheers Jonesy
  22. i use these 4 types as well depending on where i'm fishing
  23. I use Korda Hybrid and have not had any problems with it
