  1. I get all this, im back on a club complex i fished way back in 2007-2009, i feel like im home again, just feels so right being back here but yet to catch, and its well stocked 4 acre lake with around 170 carp. I will say its really well run, as tidy as can be, proper made up being back on here
  2. As i no longer do over nighters just day fishing i take a flask of coffee with me but when i used to bivvy up i would have tea other than first thing in morning
  3. well said mr Gordan going into a big shop and looking at rods is the way forward and maybe asking for a nice new year discount, if you want cork look at Wychwood or tackle box derwent valley rods
  4. Hi lee, i think you could do better for less money, not really heard much about these rods, seems they are about £85 each, are you wanting cork handles, also you might be better of going 2.5lb tc
  5. The bespoke split cane rod i had made has arrived and i am super made up with it, this was hand crafted for me and is just a thing of beauty the Calder 'n' hebble 1lb 2oz Avon rod named after the local canal navigation i will be using it on for large Perch and smaller carp
  6. Yeah and no big rush for them but i did order 21.12 and still not sent out
  7. another item arrived, shame the new reels have not even shipped yet, a little disappointed with Gerrys of morcame on the reels so this is 12lb that seems to break at about 18lb
  8. little update on the 410 reels i cut a slice (long 4mm ribbon of gorilla tape and fitted that to bottom of spool and it takes up the gap nicely, it should improve the problem
  9. Might be right, time will tell
  10. Yes sir those sticks and bobbins look very nice indeed
  11. More bait from No 10 Downing st ha ha
  12. My new to me custom split cane rod is now in the postal system and on its way to me, i have never used a cane rod so this is going to be a whole new experience for me, i plan to christen it on its name sake water, the Calder an Hebble navigation canal
  13. Got a 30cm stainless buzz bar so i can splay the rod tips out, wont put any more fish on the bank, but i like the presentation, also got an NGT 5litre bait bucket
  14. I did enjoy the new Hearn video, i do get what you guys are saying, but im glad we still getting new content from the legend
  15. got a few pairs for xmas from good lady will see how they pan out
  16. Yeah seems very good kit, funny enough i have ordered it in 12lb BS as tackle box claim it has a real BS of around 18lb, i would of used the NGT camo 18lb as it has a low diameter but its not abrasion resistant at all unlike Hydro tuff, also i wanted to keep line diameter as low as sensible as i now fish this lovely snaggy lake pretty close in
  17. As i have a pair of new reels on the way seems wrong to load cheap line on them so as im mot casting any big distance and the lake is a hell hole of snags makes sense to get a spool of Hydrotuff and just go for a decent line from the start
  18. Got a set of bobbins turn up today not branded but look okay also a new DNA Beanie unhooking mat arrived scored it new on fleabay for £12 plus a bit of post and its mint, just perfect
  19. Cant miss out on "Old friends" a true classic video
  20. Cheers framey, i have found it to be decent kit at sensible money, in some ways i dont want to retire my old 850`s got a fair bit of history in those reels, so it only seems right to at least stick with same brand
  21. I finally made the decision DAM have been very good for me, so gone for these 8000 pit reels, TBH they should see my carp fishing days out https://www.gerrysfishing.com/product/quick-darkside-4-8000s-carp-reel/
  22. Found a DAM quick black 4 8000 at a very good price £36 very tempting to stick with this brand as they have been good
  23. Im back at this search for a couple of reels, seems every time i find a reel that may be right, its out of stock, i am only looking at new as my very old DAM quick 850`s are looking right scruffy.....but they still work even though getting badly corroded now, doing great for 18 years old, i do wonder if shimano reels would still be going strong at this age and never been opened up to service
  24. fair to say progress has been good, infact this new split can custom rod is finished but i have to wait till varnish is fully dry before i get it, about a week, it looks superb and cant wait to fish with it on its namesake water
  25. I use full Solar stainless kit both buzz bars are equal but at some point might look for a wider front
