  1. I wouldnt go near these Neil cos these pellets are the very high oil ones that have had bad press in the angling journals in the past.
  2. I would be concerned about location more than anything else this time of year.
  3. Take a look at this, its what Nick posted sometime ago. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22183 I hope that helps you.
  4. Agree with you Nick. I first seen this "shocker" type rig publicised in Carp World by an angler called Chris Haswell, like you said maybe 15 years ago.
  5. Do a search at the top of the page.
  6. I do day sessions and short afternoon / evening sessions whenever i can. So my rods are out 2 or 3 times a week.
  7. Ive got the whole series on DVD. Excellent, stuff.
  8. I was having a discussion with a fellow carp angler last week about flavours and solvents used in bait making and i told him my thoughts that i think that the vast array of flavours on the market today are merely there to catch the angler. I feel its the solvent used for the base of a particular flavour, be it propylene glycol, glycerol or ethyl alcohol that attracts the carp not the actual smell. Of course he disagreed with me and said im wrong so i just wanted to ask what your views on the subject are? Am i way off the mark here or his he completely right?
  9. I would say its more of a yeasty, marmite-ish smell.
  10. The Source is my favourite boilie.
  11. Im gonna be out for a short afternoon, early evening seesion on Sunday.
  12. I can only use 2 rods anyway so im set.
  13. The Thorpe Park common, Hortons Shoulders and Redmires Raspberry for starters.
  14. For definate and its gotta be toothpaste and brush for me!
  15. Put it all over the end tackle to try and break up the outline but make sure you try to match the colour with the colour of the lake bed you are fishing over.
  16. I dont know how you guys mentally gear up to fish places of such size. Im used to small ponds and lakes and for me to fish places like that is one hell of a daunting prospect.
  17. What kids have you got Nick? Do you a son who wants to follow in his dads footsteps and take up fishing?
  18. I may just do that this winter you know, im gonna give the canals a crack as well.
  19. I bought them and i dont use them now. I think you have gotta place the slot in the lead on the hooklink a certain way round as well, cos ive found it can screw up the presentation of the rig.
  20. Same here, you aint gotta re tie your whole rig if you wanna go lighter or heavier.
  21. Ive got a lot of confidence in the green 15lb BS Snakebite. I love the stuff.
  22. I wouldnt call myself a fair weather angler at all but now the long nights are here i can concentrate on day only sessions at my chosen winter water now and get a feel for the place again before the cold winter weather really does set in.
  23. Craig your pictures amaze me, they are all superb. Keep it up.
  24. Same here, ive just finished my last full weekend earlier today and i wont be getting my bivvy out again until late March early April time. Its not the cold thats the problem, its the 17 hours of darkness that get to me. There is nothing to do except get wrapped up in your bag and that means i will be fast asleep at 6:30 in the evening.
