    chod rig

Korda do one as well as Fox. In fact most of the major tackle manufacturers have a chod/helicopter set up in their range.

    chod rig

Its just another name for the helicopter rig that was doing the rounds years and years ago. Its best fished in silt or chod (obviously) cos it keeps the short hooklink clear from the bottom debris.
  3. I dont know about you but the last couple of days the weather has been rubbish over Leicestershire. Yes i admit there has been a great west/south westerly wind but its been quite bright and the air pressure has been through the roof. Not very conductive to good carp fishing.
  4. Why is using a pear lead wrong? It doesnt matter what lead you use cos its tied on the end of the leader. If you are using an inline lead in the normal manner then you are not using an helicopter rig.
  5. Naaaaaaaahhhhhhh we cant do that. That could be one of our little edges and we cant give them away that freely can we?
  6. You just slide the rig tube into the lead tail rubber.
  7. Im from Leicester and always looking for new venues.
  8. I would never buy rigs already made up. If i make them myself i know they are tied correctly and if something happens like a knot coming loose i can only blame myself and no one else.
  9. You have left the best coated braid on the market off the list .
  10. Questions..... 1. Why do you feel that you have to resort to these 2 particular rigs? 2. Are you sure your standard pop up rigs are not working? My bet is that you got your location all wrong in the first place then lay the blame to the rigs you where using.
  11. Why dont you use a kwik link to join your hooklength onto the swivel?
  12. Ive never used Mantis or Kordas Hybrid but i wouldnt mind giving both a go. I do wish you could get a 12 inch sample so you can experiment and tie a rig with it to see if the hooklink material suits you. The last thing you want is to fork out £8 - 12 on a hooklink to realise that you cant get on with it. I made that mistake with ESP Ghost in 18lb BS, i used it once and ive never touched it again.
  13. Ive heard Kryston Mantis is very good but personally ive never used it. I use Snakebite but once its used up i will try the Mantis because i find Snakebite isnt as stiff.
  14. It was clear to me. Sorry i cant help you though, i dont use shock leaders.
  15. Just thread it on your mainline when the tubing and your mainline are completely dry (else it will be hard or near on impossible getting it through) then just slide it into the end of your tail rubber as normal and away you go. Just for the record i have used rigs with no tubing on before and ive never had a carp scale lift off from any fish i have caught. Is that normal?
  16. Eh? Korda shrinks really well. Try dropping the hook end of the rig in boiling water instead of steaming it. Its loads better.
  17. Ive got these put i dont like using them. I feel they pinch the braid just a bit too much in my opinion and possibly could weaken the hooklink.
  18. I agree with this. I read an article in Carpworld about some guy fishing Bundys Pit. Now this pit goes down to depths of 65 feet and they used to use pop ups but never shotted them down. Cos at that depth the pop up will be a counterbalanced bottom bait anyway.
  19. Why do you want to try a PVA bag with the lead and rig inside it? If you are fishing a silty bottom the whole lot will be dragged into the silt and out of sight of the carp!
  20. I dont like using back leads at this time of year cos im fishing for liners so i can see that ive got my location reasonably ok.
  21. I also have no problems using kwik links and ive caught carp to over 20 pounds using them. If you are having hooklinks snapping then make sure you use a figure of eight knot on the loop instead of a normal overhand knot.
  22. I love combi rigs and mine are made with 15lb Korda IQ and 15lb ESP Sinklink, this makes the majority of the hooklink invisible but with the vital last bit nearest the hook supple so it helps turn the hook into the bottom lip (in theory ). One final word, i split the hooklink into thirds so if you want a 6 inch hooklink then you need 2 inch of braid nearest the hook then 4 inch of IQ for the rest.
  23. I use this one and it flys through the rings when the knot beds down properly.....
  24. Thread might do the job but its very thin and will cut into the boilie when tying it on. Bait floss is just coloured dental floss but it is flat in shape and holds a boilie much more securely.
