  1. With respect mate, I was suggesting trying pre drilled pellets. I used to use a Gardner hook band thing, not sure if they are still available? Put 'inside' a grnner knot for pellet at base of hook, or just put it on the end of hair rig, not done that for years but used to be a good edge in the grinner when used for floater hookbaits.... sonubaits I think from memory 😀
  2. As others have said, so many particles to go for, obviously don't know the water but for hookbaits, a suggestion, maybe hard drilled halibut pellets? If you do decide on them as a hookbait I have found they can me knawed down by other fish and also when mounting on a hair I put a small sliver of fake corn under the boilie stop as the hole will expand and the boilie stop will go thu eventually. Final thought, unless there are flying rats around, what about floaters at this time of year? Good luck mate, always a good buzz fishing somewhere new 🙂
  3. Your choice mate, deff not going into this anymore 🖐️
  4. I don't know you obviously mate, In the past I have seen so many breakups with families because of the carp obsession, not worth it all, family more important than posing with a water pig in your arms, without a dought
  5. Sadly whatever Ali does now will be tainted by the infamous 'twig' thing! I acually liked the first few series of Monster Carp he was in, but I suspect as ever Social Media has turned him into some sort of monster, and with new business venture obviously needs to get all interest and purchasing he can. As for the boilies, I won't be interested at all, in fact recently gone over to method feeders again and happy to do it with the lakes I now fish.
  6. Found this on YouTube a while back. Hmmm, not sure I am really that impressed, the guy doesn't really explain it to well, however that speaker on the front does seem like an invitation for water ingress. Also the underlit rollers not for me. I prefer the led on my older alarms. Think I will be saying 'I'm out' for this new one tbh.
  7. Yes.... 👍
  8. As far as I am aware I don't think a Carp / Bream hybrid is actually possible. Deff get a Roach / Bream hybrid. Also with the Carp family there are so many hybrids: F1s - Crucian and Common carp Fan TaiL Crucian - Crucian and Goldfish Ghost Carp - Carp and Koi Sure there are many more too? One thing that is a real shame is I very much doubt there are any true 'wild carp' left, long lean bodies and always common carp. I think I actually caught some wildies many many years ago from a lake in surrey, now long gone tho
  9. Agree 100%, Done to death but makes me laugh when I read casting as close to far bank margins,,,, err they are under your feet, obviously depends on venue but seen it, done it and works too
  10. Always good to fish margins with a float rod, and can't go wrong with corn 👍 Actually Silver Bream are very rare, are you sure they were not 'skimmers'? Only place I knew of for Silver Bream was a day ticket water in Sussex, sadly probably carp soup now, if it's the same place. the front lake was crucian heaven!
  11. Actually walked around that place years ago, guessing now after the Carl and Alex video (big res carp) done years ago it is probably a secret gone? Vitalin also gone, now started to use flaked maize and extras to bind it in my method mix.
  12. It's a wierd thing, but as you can guess I am harping back to old times, yes I used to buy the Nutrabaits catalogues, but in the day was a Premier Baits man, now sadly gone in all but name. Just makes me smile when I read (on another forum, sorry), about so called wonder hookbaits, and the domination on certain topics this person now seems to have on it, so glad this forum is a lot more chilled and sensible. Anyway, now getting back into method feeder for fishing for carp on a Sussex lake, seems to be working, well when the lake is open again after spawning again. Remember the big method feeders on Horseshoe so many years ago and did very well on them, sometimes I wish things were a lot more simple for carp fishing, but unfortunatly the floodgates have been opened and I just chill on the bank when I can..... sorry to go a bit off post
  13. Bit wierd, But got some to firm up my method mix and works well. Just wondering if anyone now makes own boilies? I don't anymore but used to do Premier Aminos base mix and had a lot of fish on it. With all the hype about certain hookbaits 'doing the business' I just wonder if semolina might make a comeback? Rob Maylin, Andy Little etc did ok on it back in the day. As for HNV baits, well Nutrabaits did drop their 'Addits' range ages ago
  14. Have to agree elmoputney, Still makes me laugh when alarms have soo many features. imh totally not needed, a take is either a drop back or a run, never needed anything else.. what do I know tho, used to used Optonics hard wired to a BiTech viper alarm box lol
  15. Thanks, might cost me money.... but a classic phrase.... why replace something that isn't broken 😀 Also the speaker might comprimise how waterproof the original ones are?
