  1. Youโ€™ll be surprised how much little gear you need to take. In the pic iv got a fox pop up mat, weigh sling, net with a 2 piece handle, umbrella, 3 ESP QuickDraw rods 10ft 3.5lb breaks down to just over 4ft, one of them doubles up as a spod rod, and reels, alarms , sticks, food and flask โ€ฆ. Apologies to any gear I havenโ€™t mentionedโ€ฆyou just got to find room for the bike ๐Ÿค” Almost forgot to mention the chair

  4. My travelling light days seem to be long gone - I've got nothing for you there man, maybe get the family to take less ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘ Seriously though have a great time and remember it is a holiday, I think a lot of anglers would do well to remember that - have fun ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ Oh and ditto what Yonny says

  6. no but i would like too just looking at some of those lakes, would have to polish up my scots accent first though, the french love the scots, always liked the look of nash's old lake right down in the south, but that would be a beach holiday combo so i doubt i would give the fishing a proper go. she would be up for it to the right venue. I very nearly sacked the regular fishing this year and was going to do the lakes with accommodation, then i got offered the ticket i have now. plus i've only drove on the right once that was in switzerland. i just stopped the car in the middle of zurich and mad my mate drive, we had a tiny suzuki and was on a mish lol. enjoy your holiday elmo being french they are bound to like cheese and garlic ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  7. If you're confident in it, stick with it mate. Honestly, I wouldn't bother. Stick to boiled baits and your average weight over the week will normally be higher.

  8. That's what I was thinking he makes it himself apparently though but I'm tempted to stick with what I know and use the retro, might buy some particles and bits off him though to bulk it out ๐Ÿ‘

  10. If you buy their bait go with the CCM/Dynamite Elmo. European bait is rubbish.

  11. My best tip would be to take the exact same approach you would in the UK tackle wise mate. If you need extendables then you need extendables but other than that just treat it the same. No need to spend big on tackle for French waters imo. They're just carp so no need to go mental. Yes you will. Big fish have big appetites. I'd take 20 kg min.

  14. a light catfish rod should be an easy find in the US, a sea casting reel, 15 lb line weights hooks and bait, will see you fishing, might want some sort of mat or bit of tarp to unhook the fish on and you will be golden, you don't need much to get carp fishing, most of what you see us brits do is down to serious competition on the lakes, carp fishing in the US would be a lot more wild and natural.

  17. After giving myself a headache reading the EU Vote thread I thought I'd lighten the mood by posting a couple of pics from my recent session in France. This was my first time fishing in France, I'd never been particularly drawn to continental angling. Needless to say that soon changed and I have next years trip booked already...... Hope you like.....
