  1. For sure mate. The water I've been baiting is only half hour away but I'm out of the house working 6 am until 6 pm, then playing with the boy until bed time, then having tea, before I even set off to spod for an hour in the dark when I'm there. It's bloomin' hard work.

  2. Agreed. Pre-baiting is a massive edge; particularly to those living locally. But holding down a full-time job, a family and a round trip of 280 miles means its not a tactic I can realistically apply!

    Can you get worse

I think you can go backwards in some ways. I fished a local pit and had a few good fish to begin with, then a savage run of blanks before I eventually realised I'd become a clone of the regulars, baiting heavily with the spod, looking to get in certain areas etc etc Quite why I looked up to and copied anglers who were not catching much is beyond me, as soon as I went back to doing my thing I started catching again and more than anyone.

It's little clues like this that end up as a biggun in the net πŸ‘

I am also doing days only at the moment due to family commitments. Don't underestimate how much harder that makes it. If you're fishing for carp that have seen any pressure (i.e. almost all of them) they'll happily do the off if you show up and cast on their heads. If you can get away with it, pre-baiting can have a huge influence on days only results.

  7. My 3lb wychwood rods are said to have an excellent casting range of up to 191yards recorded, I've only cast them 80 odd yards so far, I doubt I could achieve that 😁 They aren't broomsticks but I do wonder if they contributed to the recent run of hookpulls I encountered when only fishing at 6 wraps a slightly softer rod would have been better I think in this situation, if only Mrs P agreed that I need more rods for every fishing situation 😁

  8. Here's one I saw this in the news yesterday 😁 Giant carp over the British record banked at 75lb 2oz News Remarkably, the enormous carp took a small 10mm Essential Cell wafter, presented in a solid bag at 120yds with a size 6 Korda Wide Gape hook. A β€˜match the hatch’ tactic Wayne believes was vital to the capture,

    The superpult

The super pult mk1 is born πŸ’ͺ I think there may be some extra yardage in this one, the elastic is a lot stronger feeling than my other one, I'm going baiting tomorrow will see how it gets on in real life 🀞

Well I've kind of formulated a plan for Thursday, going tomorrow to spomb a load of particles on a spot I've yet to discover 😳 last time I was there I saw a couple of shows in a little fished area, so hopefully if it's not busy I can get away with it Not sure if it's a good plan but hey its a plan, πŸ₯΄ I will have all day there Thursday so I don't need to rush into anything, will just see if anything shows there or anywhere else

    The superpult

I use a Drennan original Boiliepult with a smaller pouch than it comes with. I found a few in the tackle shop and bought them all, but am down to my last one. Think they were Middy pouches. I can get 3 20mm boilies in them. I can push 55metres with a single 20mm, but that is it. If there is any cross or head wind out comes the throwing stick (still got a Cobra Ace). I will use the stick for 4 or 5 baits around 50metres. @yonnymentioned 2 handed use, that is the only way I can use a Korda stick, whereas with the Cobra I can go one handed, and once I have worked/adjusted for the wind, accurately.

  13. Big test curves are for casting, not playing. I've landed numerous carp over 20lb on 1.5lb, even Avon and Barbel rods. Many hooked under my feet on dog biscuits, or sweetcorn. The only reason my main rods are 3.25lb test curve is because I was casting to 150yards. My largest carp was landed on a 2.75 test curve from a venue where I may need to cast further.

I haven't yet 😁do you mean the heavy one? I did look at them, will try the other one first tut thanks, I have no problem with korda tbh they put a lot back and now make some great podcasts 😁 πŸ‘ I will give it a go, I do have a slightly dodgy left shoulder though from a bmx incident a few years ago, but It may help to use both as it slightly restricts your arm movement which may help 😳

  15. Picked up a V2 Brolly with the front, quick sticks, groundsheet & pegs this afternoon-second hand but all in great nick. Looks just the job for meπŸ‘

  16. You keep on doing what you're doing fellah.... Remember **** Walker's 44lb common was caught on a 10'2" cane rod of 1.5lbs TC as was Chris Yates's 51lb.... Different matter if yer going for a long chuck with a big lead, then he may have a point....πŸ‘

    Back to pastures old

Not even a bleep, 😭 My left hand rod was silt infested, so not a hot spot, middle and right were OK though middle came in with a lump of clay on it so that's a potential good spot, I may have to switch to lead clips or helis though as it looked to have dug into the clay which may have made the hooklink sit funny or maybe just use bags (I had forgotten my pva mesh and pva bag accessory bucket too) but it's another swim I can fish now if I need too. Not a wasted session, just a other one closer to a biggun
