salokcinnodrog started following Snails
-
I go through stages of trying things out, and some of my favourite stalking baits in rivers are slugs and snails, because they occasionally fall in from bankside vegetation. Chub and carp have taken slugs on the drop, although snails are harder to hook... I did try putting land and water snails in my spod mix a few times, and a mate and I have been known to walk round the lake collecting them. We get water snails as big as your thumb! The best way to use them we found to stop them floating was freeze them. It never seemed to produce any more than standard spod mix. I've used Dynamite hemp and snails and it seems no better than plain hemp, although I do know that when fish get onto snails they are very good for growth and health.

So I've tried snails, my mate is still keen to try a kilo of chopped worms with 2 rods over it. I will let you know how we get on π tbh though I have done alright on boilie at the beginning of summer, I think im just having some bad luck at the moment so I'm gonna continue with boilie for the rest of the year. Unless he has it off with worms ππ€£

Well at least this thread seems to have got the posting on here up a bit ππ. Will be taking the new alarms out for a couple of day sessions at a (hopefully) easy coarse lake in Norfolk this weekend... if the forecast is to be believed tho, won't be any rain!
-
Didn't have any on the snail mix mate, but I normally fish just 20s with a 20/16mm snowman. With the bream I think it depends where they are on the canal at the time, if they move in you can be hammered for a while, but the tench seem to be quite rogue and get the odd capture lol. If I start picking up bream I wait for a couple hours before putting more bait out, hoping they've cleared it and moved off π€£ As for silvers, theres a real healthy stock of them and can see them in groups of hundreds π€£ weve thought about worms/maggots/casters but reckon they will clear it before the carp get a chance lol My mate caught a pike on the drop with a tiger, hooked in the scissors π€£

@jh92 how are the nuisance species?
-
Thanks, well added them crushed to a mix made it smell decent, looked good on the deck too, but rigging the snails was an absolute nightmare and won't be doing it again lol. I dunno, I don't think they are the one lol. Spent most of the day walking the canal and finally found them, fished amongst them for a couple hours until they disappeared. Not a bleep. π€£ It's cool though, I'm pretty happy I gave it a go lol.

I think you guys misunderstand me. I'm not suggesting they might not be fully waterproof. I'm suggesting the theory that plugs might help with water ingress is preposterous.

I have used bank tackle a fair amount through ebay and no problem at all

Hold on mate, was only a suggestion..... Let;s be abosulatly clear here... I have been using ATTS alarms for well over 10 years, never had any probs at all, only wanted to replace one that was my fault for bodging a job on it. Yes as stated before. did a U turn and got a new pair.... As for water ingress, well, IP67: IP67 Dust tight. Withstands ingress of dust with vacuum applied. Withstands incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes

You'd hope so π€£

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
elmoputney replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
It's probably more for reducing the volume I would assume. You would like to think they had made it fully waterproof. The atts were always supplied with a 2 mag roller, I use the 4 mag all the time I fine them perfect for what I need, a worthwhile purchase. -
I personally would be absolutely raging if I needed to plug speakers to avoid water ingress π€¦ββοΈ
-
Sorry, should have added that they have a rubber fitting way to do this..... Yes, despite my initial scepticism about them. I now have a pair π, won' have a lot of chance to try them out but they do look good. Slight critisim tho, the instructions said they were supplied with a 4 roller magnet, no it's the standard 2, also no mention of the little rubber gizmo to fix over speaker, it is fiddly but yes it does reduce the volume.... probably helps water ingress too?
-
Bit like decreasing the alarm volume on old Nevs π

Yeah, itβs funny how things change. Window cleaning gear has come a long way, those gloves can actually be pretty useful now, especially in cold weather.

Thanks for that timely input I was thinking it could be a right edge but I can't be bothered to harvest them, that takes a lot of effort and I hope it pays off for him, looks like it's back to plan 3283638 for me then π

Well if you are right , Yonny , which you almost certainly are because you are Yonny , you've just saved me a few bob . π

No idea about a hard reset. Silly question but are you absolutely sure the heads are the remote version? -
Yeah I did years ago. I used live ones, dead ones, dehydrated/dried ones.... and they were all rubbish. Imo the carp get on the (natural) snails simply because it's the easiest food source to harvest at the time. They're tuned into the food sources available in their watercourse and I don't think you can compete with that with any snails apart from those that are plucked out of the venue - so @jh92 has the right idea. Even then, there are other natural baits (maggots and worms) that will do a much better job of competing. The snail discussion comes up every few years. Lots of guys try it. Hardly anyone has any real success. Imho, snails are just not a great bait.

Exactly β your contract is with the seller, not the delivery company. The seller is responsible for making sure you receive your goods, and they have to chase the courier if something goes wrong. The points about payment methods are also spot on: credit cards offer extra protection under Section 75 for purchases over Β£100, debit cards let you request a chargeback, and PayPal gives you buyer protection if you act within their time limits. Always good to know your options depending on how you paid.

No pictures as i dont have it yet but the wonderful chap that built my 8ft cane rod is busy with a new commission rod for me, this is a cane 10ft 1.5lb avon done in shall we say a "Walker MK4" rod

That's some serious next level determination, hope your effort pays off.

Been away on a little holiday so late to reply to this but, i think i am gonna sack this idea of, cut my loss`s put the new sleeping bag on fleabay along with airbed when it arrives. I get that lots or most fisheries wont allow tents....even if said tent is camo and looks like a bivvy, i would only be doing a max of 3 separate 24 hour sessions in a year during decent summer weather so i am just not prepared to shell out for a bivvy or brolly system and bedchair that will be plain an simple in the way at home. i just cant justify the expense of this and try to store bulky items
-
Well I've been out and got around 100 snails, got a special mix on the go in the bucket π tedious picking in the waders πͺπ€£ I'm off to the canal tomorrow morning for a night or two. Both rods are gonna go on snails. I will update how I get on π
